Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

My sage 6a finally shows movement in FedEx system. But it keeps asking for digital door tag in FedEx app. Is it required to sign electronically before the package arrives? If I don't sign this digital door tag, will my package get delayed? I would prefer to sign personally on set with FedEx driver.

Just got the 6a and transferred my data over from a 3a XL, so far not liking the new swipe back gesture. On the 3a XL there was a dedicated in-screen back button on the bottom of the screen. More work just to go back to previous scree now.
I didn't like it when I went to 5a, either, but you'll get used to it. You'll still accidentally go back a few times, but remember the speed gains.

Extremely disappointing phone.

I ordered the phone intending to upgrade my Pixel 3A. After using the 6A for a few hours, I'm asking myself who would want this phone. Not me, that's for sure.

Sure, some small, little-used features "might" be better; but many more everyday items are worse.

Maybe the Tensor processor is faster than the 3A's (I can't feel it, however), but it's also incredibly hot running (simply watching a Youtube video is uncomfortable), increases battery usage, and makes the many-times-a-day sign-on procedure worse. And it's heavier. Upgrade? Where?

I should have listened to the critical reviewers instead of the defensive apologizers.

Give it a few days (at least 2?) to "calm down", clean up, and do some things in the background... then it probably won't run so hot.

LOVE my 3a plus - but reality is no more security updates so I moved on. This planned obsolescence sucks... Hope it gets better for you - if not sell and find something u like...

I'm using Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector and it works with the finger print reader but you have to press a bit harder than normal. I really wanted a glass one so I don't mind the compromise.

Try going to Settings -> Display and there is an option for "Increase touch sensitivity". Enable this. Another option if you registered your thumb prints before adding the screen protector is to remove them and register them again with the protector in place.

I too moved from 3a to 6a. My experience so far is ok. Not great, but, not disappointing either
also note: Google ended its monthly security updates to 3a. so it's better we get rid of it 🙂

I think you can actually change those settings. I think I did it on my wife's pixel 5a.

I don't like Gesture Navigation and couldn't get used to it, and have changed it back to the previous navigation style on the last few phones I bought. If you're already used to Gesture Navigation and like it more, you can ignore this message.

Instructions to switch to the 3-button navigation style:
  1. Open Settings app
  2. System > Gestures > System Navigation
  3. Select "3-button navigation"
I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic
