Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

I'm probably as hard on phones as your kid. LOL
After breaking 3 pixel's within 1 year, I decided that it might be time to purchase a better case.
The only good thing about breaking 3 pixels is that I had no shortage of phones for trade in.
I have broken 3A, 4A and moto x4 in order in last two years. I started getting cheaper phones and no Samsung flagship phones anymore. Actually after breaking 3A, I added screen protector on top and it worked well. I still love it but will send 3a once I receive trade in box

I jumped on this deal when it first came out. Then I started reading the comments in this thread and it had me a little worried. I received my phone yesterday and let me just say I can't believe I was able to upgrade a Pixel 3a to a 6a for $180 + a free set of ear buds. I am loving this phone and I have twice the amount of storage space. I was always near the 64GB limit on my 3a which slowed the phone down. I haven't had any issues using the fingerprint reader. My only two complaints are the location of the fingerprint scanner (it's just more convenient to access it on the back) and the lack of a 3.5mm jack. I only need the 3.5mm jack for use in my car and I plan to buy a USB-C to 3.5mm Audio Adapter which also does simultaneous charging so that will no longer be an issue. Oh, one other thing. I did enjoy being able to swipe down on the physical fingerprint reader to show the notifications, but I was able to find another solution for this. In gesture settings you can configure an action for double tapping on the back of the phone and I use this to pull down the notifications.

I wonder how many of these overheating Tensor chips they have and if they're a sunk cost that can't be retooled or made useful in another way. Given the 6a unexpectedly getting the chip and the general response to their 6 line...I wouldn't be surprised if the 7/7Pro get Tensor 2 and the 7a is stuck with leftover Tensor 1 chips. Hope I'm wrong since I decided to pass on the 6a and wait for the 7a.

Just got confirmation that the trade-in kit will be here by Monday. Not as quick as I would have liked, but nowhere near conspiracy-theory levels of delay

If the 7a got leftover tensor 1 AND the ancient cam setup from the 6a (which is similar to the Pixel 2), then there would be demonstrably no difference between the 6a and 7a unless they:

- added a better screen
- maybe more memory?

Either way, if there is any of the aforementioned issues with the 7a, those of us who got a CC with warranty can be made whole quite easily

My trade will be a working 4a with a cracked screen...
I also have a broken 4a, a broken 4a5G, and a perfect condition 4a5G.
I dropped the 4a5G and the repair shop said that the screen is good, but the main board is damaged and will cost more to fix the phone than it's worth. I dropped the 4a and the screen developed a purple line and eventually the entire screen turned purple/black. I dropped the other 4a face down on gravel and cracked the screen, but it works fine. I'm keeping the working 4a5G as my primary device and the 6a will basically be a backup. Probably going to sell the buds, as I already have buds.

I am so jealous of other people now as I was planning to visit a park and take photos with this phone over the weekend. The shipment is lost for now, and they don't deliver over the weekend.

Does anyone recall what the trade in value was for a Samsung Note 9? Also $300?

Anyone know whether they care about cracks on the back glass of a galaxy note 9? Screen is fine, so I'm not sure whether select cracks ($255 trade) or not ($300 trade).
Hi sorry did you confirm that for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (no issues/cracks) the trade-in value was $300?

what's the likelihood of me trading in a pixel 3a xl and still getting the 300$ credit vs me trading in a pixel 3a that I originally signed up for? is it a one time chance thing and then you get DCd?

Trade-in needs to match your order.

It's actually 3 months old. Because it ships with April update, and the other Pixels have July update, scheduled for August update coming Monday.
Of course +1 additional month of shame.. Does it mean these got packaged way back then!

You can see the trade in model details on your order page... They are dumb systems

It was $280 at its highest trade-in value (turns on, no cracked screen, etc.)

Yes, I'm pretty sure that Google will fix the thermal issues with Software updates. No way a phone can run this hot. Most reviewers also noted it on Youtube and it's definitely an issue.
But hopefully one that can be fixed.

The Camera is great obviously. Honestly, I have the Pixel 6 as my daily driver and I really don't see a huge difference in Pixel 6 photos vs Pixel 4a 5g/Pixel 6a photos. Obviously I'm not a photo guru, but for the usual stuff, I'd say Google nailed the cameras since Pixel 2, and using a bigger 50 mp lens on Pixel 6 didn't benefit them that much. I mean the newest Samsung flagship and Iphone 13 take better pictures now, unfortunately for Google.

As for the fingerprint reader, you can do up to 5. I'd register the right thumb twice. That improves it significantly. Obviously the Pixel 3/4/5 fingerprint would be better, but I think Pixel 6a fingerprint reader is marginally better than Pixel 6 FP reader. You will get used to it eventually, but it will never be as good as the ones in 3,4,5 series.

I ended up enrolling same fingers and thmbs twice on 6 pr which helped a bit.

Seeing same issue on 6a also
I think it has improved it quite a bit. I added my right thumb 2X and it seems to be working a lot better. I will have to test more.

Thanks a lot!!

Has anyone gotten their trade-in kit yet? I'm hesitant to open the new phone until they finalize my $295 for a cracked 3a.
are you unable to return once the phone is opened?
