Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

For all those keeping this phone, make sure you keep checking XDA portal for 6a. I'm sure developers will begin cracking this baby to come up with some great ROMs.

Anyone tried returning earbuds only?
Google gave us a great deal with the trade-in and gave you free Pixel buds that are actually pretty good. Don't hope for a bug in their system, try to return them and try to get back $100. I am all for a good deal but I am not interested in doing shady tactics after Google gave us a great deal. That is trying to scam the system. I heard some poster wanting to return the phone and keep the buds so he just wants to score free Pixel buds. Ridiculous. Come on people. If you really don't have any interest in the buds, sell them on ebay. I have been quite impressed with them and I am a big fan of the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ and have 3 of those galaxy buds. I will even say that they are the most comfortable earbuds that I have ever wore before.

Does anyone recall if you can trade in a phone that doesn't turn on?
I tried powering on an old 3a that was sitting in my closet, which I intended to trade-in, and now it's not turning on. Not charging either. And there's a strange looking bulge in the back of the phone. Anyone know what this could be?
Trying to decide if it's still worth trading in (if that even works), or just return the 6a...

The bulge is the battery. I'd get rid of that sooner or later.

When you did the trade in, you had to say if it turned on. Check your google order to see what you selected.

Throw that away immediately. It's better if it explodes in a landfill than in your house or mail truck.

I selected that it turned on because it worked the last time I tried. Is there any trade-in value for a phone that doesn't turn on? Or was there any value while this promotion was alive?

It sounds like you don't actually own the phone. It seems that that could be a problem if you try to trade it in.

Well... I am not sure about how non owned phones would work.
This is for a friend who has a phone from a company that they no longer work for. The company merged with another and doesn't even exist. So the IT department is not reachable. The phone was unlocked and usable with different service providers. Never really noticed it had remote management.

Too bad, I guess, might not work for trade in. Although I'm surprised they allow locked phones to different carriers.

The first question they asked on the trade in screen is if the phone turns on. They don't want a dead phone.

Please get rid of that phone at a local waste center. If the back is bulging, the battery is going bad and can become a fire hazard. It probably won't be a good idea to trade that in...

Yes, mine still shows that the trade in kit has not been shipped, but I received it Saturday, and dropped it off at the Post Office today.
Mine still shows it hasn't shipped and I still haven't received anything either. Really annoying how long Google is taking with this.

They should give you a credit that's pretty unacceptable. You preordered and release day was last Thursday. At this point you've basically been left out.

My wife's order finally shipped tonight. She got the tracking email at 8:42PM EST.

Sorry if this question has already been asked, but there are too many comments to go thru...
I received my return kit with a padded sleeve and resealable box.
I'm tempted to put some bubble wrap around the padded sleeve for extra protection.
Good idea / bad idea / overkill ?
