Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

I received my return kit with a padded sleeve and resealable box.
I'm tempted to put some bubble wrap around the padded sleeve for extra protection.
Good idea / bad idea / overkill ?
Usually not required but won't hurt adding bubble wrap.. safer the better

So I got the trade-in kit for the phone that I ordered on 23rd (and the phone and buds too).
The online store portal shows that my trade-ini kit is still pending, with no tracking for my trade-in kit.
And I have the kit. Very strange.
wondering if I should send the phone, or wait for the status to update. If I send it, how do I track it, as the portal shows that they have not even shipped the trade-in kit.
BTW - the label on the kit has the correct return id, that is also showing on the portal.

Google gave us a great deal with the trade-in and gave you free Pixel buds that are actually pretty good. Don't hope for a bug in their system, try to return them and try to get back $100. I am all for a good deal but I am not interested in doing shady tactics after Google gave us a great deal. That is trying to scam the system. I heard some poster wanting to return the phone and keep the buds so he just wants to score free Pixel buds. Ridiculous. Come on people. If you really don't have any interest in the buds, sell them on ebay. I have been quite impressed with them and I am a big fan of the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ and have 3 of those galaxy buds. I will even say that they are the most comfortable earbuds that I have ever wore before.
Well, legit comment.

I'm sitting on the same fence.

If you flip the address label from your box the number toward the bottom of the label should match your "Trade-In ID" from your confirmation emails. That's "something" at least that you could expect will be tracked when they do their whole return process.

I'm still on the fence though, haha, just seems like a perfect excuse for them to screw you later or get you into some black hole of arguing with their support. "Sigh"

Random charge for about $107 from google.

Nothing new shows in the google store other than the 6a + buds.

Read about others getting a refund for the buds then getting actually charged. Is this some kind of messed up reverse situation of that? Hopefully it reverses in a day or so, otherwise IDK. Dispute it? How can they mess this up so badly.
I had the same happen and I just noticed a $107 refund showing up on my card. A bit odd, but at least things are all square now.

My trade will be a working 4a with a cracked screen...
I also have a broken 4a, a broken 4a5G, and a perfect condition 4a5G.
I dropped the 4a5G and the repair shop said that the screen is good, but the main board is damaged and will cost more to fix the phone than it's worth. I dropped the 4a and the screen developed a purple line and eventually the entire screen turned purple/black. I dropped the other 4a face down on gravel and cracked the screen, but it works fine. I'm keeping the working 4a5G as my primary device and the 6a will basically be a backup. Probably going to sell the buds, as I already have buds.
Make sure you charge the 6a occasionally to prevent critical discharge of the battery. That hurt one of my other stored phones.

Does anyone have a screen shot of the acceptable broken screen conditions. I know it has to turn on, but does the phone have to function correctly?

I would not because what they provide should be sufficient and I think following their instructions as best you can will give you the highest likelihood of not encountering any issues with the trade-in... but hopefully they won't care if you do (though who knows for sure).

I wrapped it with a single then layer of bubble wrap, I didn't stuff the box or anything.

I got a system update last night. I was able to open with a non-registered fingerprint before, but can't get it to do it again post-update, perhaps they fixed it.

Old build number: SD2A.220123.051.A3

I think mine is going back. Fingerprint sensor is unreliable and the screen sucks compared to my Galaxy. I also didn't realize I'd miss Qi charging or a 120hz refresh rate so much.

I did the update as well and I could still unlock the phone with my middle finger, but I only registered my thumb and index finger, so the issue is still there. Now my SO's fingers never open it, so I really don't think it's a real security risk, but it is something that should be fixed, but I worry that if it's fixed, the reader will be slower and/or work less often.

They don't care. It's better to have more protection than not. I've added bubble wrap every time I've sent one back (5 or so) and i've always gotten the full refund. I'd rather not risk a screen cracking from the phone bouncing around in the box.

Received my trade-in kit yesterday and before I ship it off I looked up the address it is going to. It is 601 Mason Rd, La Vergne, TN 37086 which goes by HYLA Mobile Reconsidered. They have bad reviews and a little worried that they are probably going to lie that I sent the wrong phone. My screen is already cracked and it says on the trade-in so one less lie to worry about. Will keep you update how does this go.

Maybe I'm being too cautious, but I took video of the phone as I demo'd condition, performed the factory reset on camera, and packed it in the box and sealed it. Who knows if that would actually help with anything if there's an issue.
