only getting 200$ offer, anyone have a link to the 250$ offer?
It may be random or targeted toward people who seem to on the fence and keep coming back to the AmEx website? I just recently signed up for BCE and originally when I went to the AmEx site it was only showing $200 for the SUB, but then I copied and pasted the URL over to another browser to start the application process and it was showing a $250 SUB.
I seem to be able to replicate it just opening the above page in various browsers, although the exact wording is "Earn up to $250 back," can't remember if it had the "up to" language as well when I applied. Whenever I see anything other than the standard $200 SUB at the end of the offer details it will say "This offer may not be available if you leave this web page and return later."
EDIT: Just an update, I recently got the SUB for the BCE I opened in December and it did end up being $250.
Assuming you cap your spending at 6k for the year that's $360 in CB. Less the $95 annual fee it's reduced to $265. That's $85 extra CB vs the blue everyday cards 3% that has additional categories.
But Preferred Amex Blue gives 6% back on groceries. That's the only reason I got the Preferred card (about 7-8 years ago) in the first place.
You need to spend at least $3200 on groceries a year to break even on the Preferred card's fee. But at that breakeven point, any online shopping tilts back toward the Everyday card. You really need to max out the $6k at 6% to make the card worth owning. If you do that, then the Everyday card becomes a better deal at $4k in online shopping. Which I feel like many people will hit easily. The 6% Streaming and 3% transit (Uber/bus/train) on preferred could be the tie-breaker if you are close.
If you go beyond $6k grocery, Discover usually has a quarter with 5% groceries to help make it go farther.
I personally dropped from the Preferred to the Everyday when they added the 3% online retail, as the math worked way better for us there.
Is Amex still issuing clear cards or have they moved to blue colored cards? My current card is about to expire in August and I like the clear card that I have

Customer Service told me it takes 6-8 weeks to receive the $200 bonus after you hit your $2000 spend. That is complete BS and ridiculous. Every card I've ever had paid out in a couple of days or at least at the end of said billing cycle.

The annual fee isn't worth it to me.

Damn. I liked whipping out the clear card at female cashiers and bartenders. They were always impressed and gave me the naughty look😁
