While it may have started. If you email ASUS support the receipt, they will allow you to re register for the warranty. You will get the full year, I did this last year with a very similar open box deal.
Most "excellent" open box items can be shipped. Typically it is shipped directly from a random store that has it in stock. I think they don't like to offer "satisfactory" or lower rated open box shipments since you are not able to confirm any product damage or which non-essential parts might be missing. They probably have more returns for based on expectations versus reality.
In my experience...

It's not particularly good imo as a "general use" laptop because the fans kick in too often for a pleasant experience (personally), and the screen size to weight ratio is actually quite bad.

It's not particularly good at gaming either because it has a GTX 1650 with a smaller than usual screen (bigger screens are better imo for gaming) that has slow response times.

It's a laptop for those who don't mind compromising on general usage experience for some gaming capability (and vice-versa)

I feel like the only benefits of the Lenovo is that it is new with a better screen and webcam.
The G14 has dedicated graphics for light gaming, a better processor, and upgradable RAM.
Also, the Lenovo has WiFi 5 (802.11ac) versus WiFi 6 (802.11ax) on the G14 but that is usually a cheap upgrade ($20-$30) for Lenovo models since they typically have slotted WiFi.

I know it's prob sad... But I didn't even know you could get open box items shipped to you from best buy. I thought it was only in store pickups from local stores if you were lucky enough. Lol. This changes everything.

The only thing close to this price with a better GPU seems to be the Lenovo Gaming 3 with the 3050. This has a better screen, better processor, better build quality, double the RAM, and is much lighter. For this price you have to sacrifice something and I think this hits a sweet spot for $588.

Also this is one of the only 14 inch laptop lines (razer makes the other). Which is much better for traveling vs a 15 inch

Keep in mind that Asus warranty has already started so you're not getting a full 12 months on these open-box deals. I mention that because the Costco deal on the IdeaPad 5 Pro 14 is expired, BUT your friendly neighborhood Micro Center is selling the refurbished model with 90 days warranty for $499.99. I'm looking for a good inexpensive laptop with nice screen and ample power, and this one is tempting me. 16:10 ratio is just so much better for seeing more real estate on your screen. https://www.microcenter.com/produ...ished-grey

Cant compare because none of the other ones are under 4lbs with a small form factor. If you dont care about portability sure, but many people do.

It's a great laptop. Thin-and-light with a 3050Ti. But definitely not the same price. Lowest new price was $900. Refurb was somewhere between $700 and $800, I think?
