Best Buy has a lower spec'd Zephyrus G14 on sale for $750 as part of the "Deal of the Day". The better deal IMO is the excellent open box option for $588. It's definitely not for a hardcore gamer but the build quality, processor, RAM, and dedicated graphics in a 3.64 pound chassis is hard to beat for this price.

Keep in mind there is no webcam on this generation G14 models. The speakers are pretty decent and battery life is good with 5800HS. I highly recommend turning off the "breathing" lights in Armory Crate when the laptop sleeps. I find it annoying and many reviewers agree.

While it may have started. If you email ASUS support the receipt, they will allow you to re register for the warranty. You will get the full year, I did this last year with a very similar open box deal.
Most "excellent" open box items can be shipped. Typically it is shipped directly from a random store that has it in stock. I think they don't like to offer "satisfactory" or lower rated open box shipments since you are not able to confirm any product damage or which non-essential parts might be missing. They probably have more returns for based on expectations versus reality.
In my experience...

It's not particularly good imo as a "general use" laptop because the fans kick in too often for a pleasant experience (personally), and the screen size to weight ratio is actually quite bad.

It's not particularly good at gaming either because it has a GTX 1650 with a smaller than usual screen (bigger screens are better imo for gaming) that has slow response times.

It's a laptop for those who don't mind compromising on general usage experience for some gaming capability (and vice-versa)

It was mentioned earlier that shipping is an option, but it isn't for me. It only allows me to lookup for the item in store near me and says delivery is not an option.
I had assumed these would be in store only, but since delivery was mentioned earlier, I wanted to post my experience.

I think they provide the shipping option to everybody when they have stock in their national/regional warehouses. When those are depleted I believe they'll only show delivery if a store in your area has one.

Acer swift 14 with the 3050ti is also a good option
The Acer Swift X has some issues including a 60 hz screen and a 90 watt power supply (the GPU alone is about 80 watts so the question is where is this thing power limited).

I have the older model of this with the 4000 series Ryzen and I think it's a great general use laptop with the ability to game lightly. Battery life is good, keyboard is easy to type on, my fans don't really kick in much nor do I hear them much and it's small and portable. Good for school work and gaming is a go for me. But that's just MHO.

Anyone able to comment on the thermals for this laptop? I need something for school and the processor in this is really good. I wont be gaming on it much.
if you won't be gaming on it just look for a 5500u or 5700u laptop then

Not worth it. The GPU is extremely outdated. You're getting ripped off.

$588 for a Ryzen 7 5800HS premium-build notebook with 16G/512GB is getting ripped off? The GPU is just gravy in this price range.

The 3050ti is running at 35w in the Swift X. I know because I'm considering buying one of those and I've been researching it out.

That means it will seriously underperform.

I got mine the other day. Incredible value on the open box at $588. Super premium build, great keyboard and trackpad. Screen is fantastic. 12,050 on Cinebench r23 multi-core so it screams.

Completely agree, what a great computer especially at $588 amazing deal.
My Cinebench r23 multi core score was 12,436 on max performance mode and just around 10,000 on silent mode and only on battery power. I just added 16GB Memory to make it 24GB Total

Edit: Upgraded it to 40GB RAM Memory with a single 32GB stick dual-rank, now that memory prices have come down a bit.
Works great running my virtual machines with all that memory
