Not to be used as the OS drive!!! It will start freezing for a few seconds - this is a known issue with the DRAMless SMI2259XT controller.

For pure storage it's a fine a product - generally good quality chips inside, good warranty.
If anyone needs the MX model it's also on sale for $84.99. Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD, up to 560MB/s - CT1000MX500SSD1 https://a.co/d/0YjFnN5
FYI. It's $79.99 at Best Buy:

I recently got the ASUS Vivobook deal from Office Depot. I already added 16gb of ram for a total of 24gb and I'm planing on using this 1tb ssd in the extra hdd slot.

What's the improvement from BX to MX?
BX is their DRAM-less product, so it performs worse than the MX for certain workloads like random I/O.

Oh I see. Otherwise, is it the same sans the DRAM?

MX has better performance and a 5-year warranty.

For pure storage it's a fine a product - generally good quality chips inside, good warranty.

I was about to post the same thing. Do not buy as a boot drive!!!! Google "Crucial BX500 freezing".

Agree that the MX would be the better buy for most folks, this more for just data storage....

But, didn't a lot of those BX500 problems cluster around the older 480/500gb models? And then these larger drives fixed a lot of those drive space-related problems?

I put the 960gb version of this in an Acer Nitro 5 back in 2019 for a family member -- before I knew the difference between this and MX!! I've asked her recently if it ever feels like it's freezing, and she says no. Drive is only about 45-50% full.
