No. This drive tends to freeze when it wants to do some internal maintenance. The freeze periods can be quite long - 10-15 seconds.

For an OS drive you want something with DRAM, like Hynix S31, WD Blue, MX500.
Up until last week I had been using this drive in a Thinkpad X230 for years and not once experienced this behavior.
Same, I've used only DRAM-less SSDs for years as I didn't even know what SSD dram was and just bought the cheapest Samsung and Crucial offerings. people on this site tend to say you NEED relatively expensive features that most people really don't.

These are slower than other SSD drives. It is priced what it is worth.

I guess there's no way around this then?

This will work fine with a SATA adapter as an external storage. But note that T7 is NVME internal, BX500 is quite a bit slower, only SATA.

The slowdowns seem to come from the controller itself - so it's a design feature. The way around this is to get another model Smilie

PS5 is M.2 not sata, also has further requirements but the form factor/interface is all wrong here.
