Most of the people that I know that bought Crucial SSDs bought the MX line.

The BX should be fine but I would not used it as my boot drive.

That would be a better choice.

A M.2 would be even better if your computer MB accepts one.

That's the unfortunate part. I have an older generation laptop that only supports SATA SSD.

I wouldn't worry about the difference. I still use a desktop i7 3rd gen with a sata that still boots up faster than a laptop i5 13th gen with a m.2.

You can use a m.2 to Sata adapter, but it's a bit redundant, I would think. You're better off getting a sata ssd and using that. The MX500 version is better fas a boot drive and come with a 5 year warranty.
