Asking because I might do this for my GF, and if I can just buy the phone for $300, get on a Verizon (or maybe AT&T, but boys in red seem cheaper) cheapy plan then switch back to her old carrier that might be worth the hassle of switching. One month of single line service from verizon is 70, so $300+$70+$70 is $440 for an unlocked Galaxy Z Flip3. Considering price for unlocked from Best Buy is $850, this seems like a steal.

Take this article for what it's worth for the curious and they at least admit all of this is speculation. I have the Flip 3 T-Mobile variant from the $550 deal and got the Galaxy watch 4 Classic 46mm with LTE so not a terrible deal. I never switched from my iPhone 11 Pro. After playing with it the folding wears off quick and the camera and battery life leave a lot to be desired. I also hate the watch UI and stuck with my Versa 2 FitBit. This is all YMMV and my opinion but I will say for $300 this phone is worth it easily to use for trade in or to use but the folding phone is unnecessary and once open is a regular phone that's not dust proof and much much more fragile than a regular phone.

There are leaks about this phone all over the internet, there won't be any huge upgrades this year.

It is however compatible with the current att trade in deal. So you get $800 - taxes - activation/upgrade fee (can be negated with a fan)
After applying the fan (take a paystub into an att store and have a rep see if you get one)
When the bill generates go to the bill details section and find the activation fee and use the "why am I getting charged this" button and dispute the charge. It's automated and won't even fight you.
