RTINGS REVIEW

https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/tcl/6-series-r646-2021-qled [rtings.com]

Yes nearly all of the bugs have been worked out of the OS E/ARC is still a little buggy.
In my area pickup is the only option.

Not going to happen. BestBuy is the only reseller of this TV and they are nearly out of stock. The set when it came out was $1500. This is as low as this is going to go.

Picture quality is really good. TV was super buggy when I got it in April, but two updates since seem to have solved most of my issues, though I don't use it for gaming. Go to avforums and read the R646 thread for details.

Will the hdmi arc support an older vizio sound bar system? Does it support dolby and hdr10? Is it so buggy should one use a fire stick or nvidia shield instead of the built in apps? Thank you slick deals

Nice, you must have got one of the last ones, I don't see any available in DFW now.

My 5 yr old LG sound bar works over ARC. There is a slight delay but I have my ROKU set to power on the tv, and my soundbar. Once the ROKU interface comes up there is about a 5 second delay until the soundbar comes up. After that everything works normally. One thing to note is, the volume indicator will just say the name of the sound bar with a + or - vs numbers. My soundbar has a volume indicator on it so it doesnt bother me. Dolby and HDR10 are both supported. I haven't had an issue with built in apps but I prefer ROKU over all so I just use that.

the internet says this tv is excellent for the price but boy did it look like sheit when i saw it in store on display. almost like a giant computer monitor. the sony section of a80j a90j and a90k looked really good with their high contrast video on display.

Hard to say what settings they had on the TV compared to the SONY. The SONY by nature will have better color accuracy and slightly better motion performance though. Stand an R646 next to one of them with simply changing the R646 pre set to movie and there will be many scenarios where the R646 looks better. My guess would be the R646 was on Store mode which defaults to VIVID and washes out everything. Store mode is awful on these things.

Yes for a while they were sold out so this one was luck of the draw. Hopefully, it works out. I had to return the Toshiba m550 75 inch from last month's slickdeal within a week since it was very buggy.

I bought one open box-satisfactory in Clearwater FL. Price was $847 for Used-Satisfactory at the time but they had it for $807.99. Weird. It was in the box I felt terrible asking the employee to unbox but I didn't want to risk a massive scratch on the screen. TV still had the protective screen on! I guess it was discontinued when they took it in maybe they just marked it at the lowest condition?
I tried to get 20% off that price but was unsuccessful. I was however able to negotiate $50 off so price. Delivery is free which is incredible since I am 40 miles away and the box is so bulky I wouldn't have any idea how to get it home.
Now to sell the 65" r617. $1169 is very cheap.

Fun fact - I am learning more about product placement of TV's. There are several YouTube vids on how TCL/Hisense are outselling LG/Sony/Samsung and now best buy are putting the TCL/Hisense in the open box section/corner where they don't get visibility since the big guys pay $$$ for the space and their picture:price ratio doesn't compete with the Chinese brands. I don't know of any Samsung/Sony Mini Led TV for under $1200 in this size. You would be shelling out twice the price.
