US Bank refused to pay my bonus, even after I showed them screenshots I had saved. Never again.

FYI, they will try to screw you out of your promo bonus, by claiming the account was not opened with promo code included.

since usually any promo will require you to wait from 90 days all the way to 6 months (perhaps more), they can easily get away with it.

not even showing the evidence will help.

just beware

Since there is a monthly fee on promo all offered checking account, how soon can you close the account after getting deposit?

I opened an account yesterday and today I received a call from some person named "Marlene" at US Bank. Also received an email from her asking if there was anything I needed and offering tips and how to's for DD. Not used to that level of service and unsure if I should be freaked out or impressed. Email is from [email protected], already have a cc with them that I got the bonus last year and then downgraded the card.

Did you transfer money out first then call and close it or ?
Yup transferred out, waited for monthly statement to generate, download recent statements and then closed
I would close as soon statement is generated, to avoid any fees and/or interest credit if there were to be any balance, who might want a check mailed instead.

I guess it is common with them, possibly cross selling other products

Wouldn't leaving the account open after transfer I g the balance out leave you open to fees for a low balance.
Just transfer out and close as soon as it clears (1-2days). If it's a savings account you could end up with a check for a penny due to interest which is pretty funny.

And then when you believe you have got your ass out of the game, they silently open up 10 accounts for you! LMAO

I feel like people that don't like this bank should open an account, since we'd be getting $400 from them and then closing it after a few months.

I haven't seen this asked yet, but if you have a current checking account with them, will this work if you open a second one. Or can I even have two checking accounts under my name with them?

US Bank is awful in my experience. They are fighting for and winning the bottom.

Meh, I've made about 7k in bank bonuses this year alone and have another 2.5k currently pending...You'll find that people have something negative to say about EVERY bank in existence...Scared money don't make money.

They're not hard to get, you just need to review t&c's for your specific products to ascertain how to avoid fees and get the promo...The people that are negative clearly don't do due diligence prior to signing up.
Like I said previously...good luck. It's the internet, people make up sh!t both for and against these deals. Let's just say my spidey senses have once again been activated! Spider LMAO

Except there's no downside to these deals. Banks are FDIC insured and if there's an issue, file a complaint with the CFPB and your issue will be taken care of post haste. (I've never had to do that either). The only thing is the opportunity cost with what else you could do with your money. Leave in a savings account making 2% interest max? That's a significant decrease in return. Or would you rather put it into the currently volatile stock market, or the even more volatile crypto market where there is no guarantee you'll make money in the short run? Maybe a year ago when it was still in it's bull run but I'm playing it more conservative at the moment.

You'll find that people have something negative to say about EVERY bank in existence. That's just the nature of what happens when you deal with an extremely high volume of customers in a service oriented market. It's just that the people with negative experiences are significantly more vocal than the overwhelming amount of people with positive experiences. Don't let human nature of gravitating to fear cloud your judgement. Scared money don't make money.
Does that 7k include CC bonuses? I find that hard to believe if it does not.
