Even if it becomes $450 after warranty refund, 64 GB makes it unusable for some people. And only black color available.

Agreed.

My point was when I calculate what the denominator of $/year cost of a phone is, I would use 6 years instead of 7.

Now, since iPhone 12 is already out for 2 years, the denominator will be reduced by 2 years and hence will be 6-2=4 years. Hence I will use $/4 to calculate iPhone12 cost per year.

As per my calculations, we only come ahead only IF we get the AppleCare+ back, that too not by much.

So, if cash is not tight on my end OR I don't need a phone immediately, I can wait(financial calculation).
Gotcha.

I think what's great about this commentary is that I rarely find responders quantifying value in this format and I think the more people that think about this method the more people can understand value. And the more people can understand value, the more people can improve their financial situations and purchasing motivations.

As someone who would love to buy a new MacBook, the fact that I can type up this response on a 2012 MacBook Pro speaks volumes about what little value the newer MacBooks bring if you primarily consume and occasionally create. While I admit that video editing is challenging and I've offloaded that function to my iPad Air, I can still design objects using Fusion 360.

I always get mine pretty much free. Most carriers run free iPhone deals with trade in when you switch around the time of new iPhone launches. Verizon will even take damaged iPhones but their service is more costly.

Not saying it isn't, spec wise other than screen size almost identical.

A few years ago, I bought iMac + Applecare from Adorama. Called Apple and cancelled Applecare. Received refund check from Apple.

64 gig is way too low. And it's not even 64... after the OS and system files, it's only around 56 GB that you can actually use. After a few recorded 4K videos and installed apps, you're almost already out of space.

Is $450 iphone 12 mini 64gb worth it? I say no. Sub $400, yes.

I'd be all over this if it was for the Purple version! Mom needs a new iPhone (Has 6 Plus now).
