I always wanted a small laptop that's not very slow just to browse the internet and watch youtube and portable. I will give it a try. I can't believe it's so cheap, I even pay more for iPhone storage upgrade from 128g to 256g haha. this seems a good deal.

Not slow at all and 4GB of RAM is more than enough for a Chromebook (so shutup you "WhAt R u GoInG tO dO wItH 4gB of RaM" people)
No, I will not. I routinely run out of 4 GB of RAM on my MT8173C Chromebook. It doesn't free up well without rebooting either.

You can get by with 4 GB but it is time for more depending on your use case.

Pair Bluetooth headphones to it, listen to music or videos. Check Slickdeals and other sites. Pull up recipes on it. Et cetera.

It's a 2-in-1 so maybe you can work on that angle.

Anything good I could use this for with a 4 year old? What apps are good and educational?

I guess mine works off magic. BTW, RAM not clearing at reboot suggests you are not truly rebooting the system (such as putting to sleep) or there is a problem with the OS's assessment of available RAM. RAM literally is wiped when power is removed. Only other thing I could imagine is Chrome or some other app is remembering the state it was in prior to the reboot, then loading tabs, prefetching data, etc once the system is rebooted, thus allocating RAM once again. Again, not a RAM issue.

If you use the device for what it was designed for....4GB is more than enough.

Stream videos, word processing, light PDF work, email, BASIC photo editing.

I have to ask, what use case should this device accomplish but it fails at?

I already have a Galaxy Book Pro, a Mac mini and an iPad mini. Not to mention an iPhone, a Meta Portal and an Echo 8". My wife also has like 4 devices. There's only so many devices I can use.

You read it wrong. Rebooting fixes any problem I have with RAM not being freed up.

But getting to that point is not that hard. I do use a lot of tabs at times, but in particular, a YouTube live stream with chat can easily hog over 1 GB.

Now that all new Chromebooks have Android and Crostini (Linux) support, using up 4 GB of RAM is easier than ever. That is the spec I am looking at when getting a cheap Chromebook. I started with 2 GB, now I'm on 4 GB, next is probably 8 GB.

My list was not a criticism.

The best way to save money on Slickdeals is to not buy. Or you could gift it to somebody in your extended family or something.

Is there a headphone port?
Just got mine yesterday. Pretty sure I see a 3.5mm headphone port on the left hand side. Also has bluetooth built-in for TWS earphones.

Sorry, I did misunderstand!

I think tabs are the key, Chrome has never been know as a lean (RAM wise) program and it is far too easy to open up a dozen or more.

I still think 4GB is fine if you are realistic of what it should do and how you will use it. It is easy to over estimate capacity and under estimate real world demand.
