You can get by with 4 GB but it is time for more depending on your use case.

Pair Bluetooth headphones to it, listen to music or videos. Check Slickdeals and other sites. Pull up recipes on it. Et cetera.
It's a 2-in-1 so maybe you can work on that angle.
But getting to that point is not that hard. I do use a lot of tabs at times, but in particular, a YouTube live stream with chat can easily hog over 1 GB.
Now that all new Chromebooks have Android and Crostini (Linux) support, using up 4 GB of RAM is easier than ever. That is the spec I am looking at when getting a cheap Chromebook. I started with 2 GB, now I'm on 4 GB, next is probably 8 GB.
I have to ask, what use case should this device accomplish but it fails at?
