By the way I'm not the person you originally asked a question about. But I think I had similar situation. I am part of T-Mobile group plan and the account belongs to my friend.
I guess with your situation, if your sibling's line qualifies, ask him his SSN (at least the last 4 number), give it to BB together with your sibling's phone number, be on the phone with your sibling the time you're doing the trade in. When they send the code to your sibling's number, you can get that code right away.
In my case there's no sim card involved (at least not physically).
I'm sure other would have a better way to do this, but that's all I can think of. Hopefully I don't confuse you more.

1. Open a new postpaid account and line with the carrier if you are not already its customer.
2. Open a new line on an account you already have with the carrier.
3. Replace the device on an existing line you have with the carrier.
For 1 and 2 they would give you a sim from that carrier. For 3 you can transfer the sim from old phone to the new.
So you see what you wanted would have been possible on activate now with 3, if you were with one of the big-four (or perhaps Google Fi). Unfortunately Best Buy does not offer xfinity mobile, so you have to do activate later where you can deal with xfinity yourself separate from Best Buy.
There have been reports in the past where the Best Buy agent just gave you a sim from one of the carriers but didn't bother to activate it, while still giving you the activate now price. That isn't what they are supposed to do so YMMV.
