You can just buy plain bulk ramen noodles, y'know? So you're not paying for flavoring to wash down the sink. Even cheaper than these and you can add whatever healthy or unhealthy flavoring you like. Although you do give up the convenience of the cup - at least, I don't think I've ever seen unseasoned in cup form.

My dream is to eat 1 package or bowl of ramen/ udon noodles a day and bulk it up with protein, veggies, etc. Homemade version of soup. But I know that would be sodium overload but it can't be any worse than buying any types fast foods from McDonald's, taco, kfc etc

Good for the apocalypse but TBHQ is a bad ingredient. But who cares when there's nothing on the shelves……

Oh right right. Rinse it out? Or pour past the fill line and dump some of it out maybe

I do this to limit my sodium intake. Pour in a 3rd cup boiling water and pour it out with the paper lid slightly cracked open then fill it up with boiling water. Adjust the initial rinse water to your taste (less to keep more of the taste, more to remove more of it. I usually add a little sesame oil, black vinegar, chili, sake to add flavor it . Throw in some leftover veggies or meat to top it 🙂.

Too bad I can't find Nissin brand on sale on anymore. Costco used to carried them. Inflation kills everything

Shin has cups that you add the seasoning yourself. I think that's the only one that's still on the cheaper side when it's on sale

I don't drink any of the broth if that makes a difference when it comes to the sodium

For some reason I really dislike the ramen noodles in the packets. The noodles are a different consistency or something. Whatever. Anyway, I keep some of these instant lunch cups on hand for convenience reasons.

Sodium issue is over blown. [youtube.com]. You don't have to drink the soup regardless.

I'm having trouble deciding if you're a lazy cook who can't make ramen or a health conscious person who somehow does enough mental gymnastics whereby eating out of styrofoam is safe (and also ends up in a landfill), but a little salt isn't.

Get plain ramen and a microwavable container.

They even have ones that look like ramen cups.

If you're worried about your sodium intake, drink more water and don't eat ramen.
