I had a piece of metal bounce off my cheek and under my safety glasses while dremeling. It embedded in my eyeball, had to have a doctor remove it. I've been wearing tight goggles since, may switch to this.

No.
Good for grinding, woodwork like when using a lathe, or for chemical splash protection.

Standard Z87 test is a 68g ball dropped from 50 inches onto the lens mounted on a foam head. Pass means no pieces of the safety gear break free or fracture.

Z87+ is high impact, and requires two tests:
500g spike dropped from 50 inches, and a 1/4" steel ball bearing shot at 30 different impact points at 300 feet/s (~205mph). Again, pass requires no pieces of the safety gear break free or fracture, and no contact with the eye on the test head.

Yes, I wear these whenever out in public. It pairs nicely with a black Tyvek suit for more formal occasions like weddings and job interviews.

You'll need this mainly for using a grinder. Check YouTube for grinder accident videos and you'll know why.

Does anyone know off the top of their head if this will protect against flying debris/projectiles like good safety glasses?

It says meets ANSI Z87 and CSA Z94.3 standards but it also says must be worn with safety eyewear.

Wondered the same as I current use the 'squint method' when using a grinder. If I'm reading the info correctly in the above linked website z87 is blunt impact, whereas z87+ is for high velocity. So for protecting from the sparks coming off this would definitely do just fine, but if your grinding wheel explodes on you this doesn't sound sufficient?

well if you use a weed wacker without a guard you'd want a face shield.
