Verizon Wireless - $800 trade in value towards Samsung phones (Z Fold 4 / Flip 4 / variations of S22)

Verizon Wireless is offering a flat $800 trade in value towards select Samsung phones including the Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, S22 ultra, S22 plus, S22, and S21 FE 5G ($700 credit as MSRP is $699.99), with select 5G unlimited plans (including the lowest tier 5G start). This applies for new lines and upgrade eligible lines. $800 credit is applied over 36 months. If switching, you are also eligible for another $200.

While many phones on VZW seem to have "get up to $800 off with trade", these Samsung phones say simply "get $800 off with trade"

I was able to submit for $800 trade in value using some really old phones including an iPhone 6s and Galaxy S7 Edge. I am an existing customer that was upgrade eligible for multiple lines.

Just received $800 Verizon credit for a 7 Edge with a cracked screen and back. Credit is $33 and change each month for 2 years.

They provided the UPS label and it took 2 days for them to process it once received.

With the $350 credit from Samsung for the S20FE with a cracked screen, the S22 Ultra basically became a free phone.

Note: I had recently upgraded a line, but not the phone to one of the newer 5G Do More plans - then 2-3 weeks later - bought the S22 Ultra to replace that same line/phone. A week or so after that - I traded in the 7 Edge.

I do know from someone else that you don't have to upgrade all the lines on your account to get the $800 value on trade-in, just one of them - and I don't know the time-frame between upgrading and qualifying for any of those deals. It just happened to work out that way this time where there was no requirement at the time of trade-in.

Are you 100% sure? Have you tried it? I don't get it why they can't do dpp when it's being processed as an upgrade.
Carrier won't finance a non carrier device. Why would they for a device they can't control? What if you don't pay your bill?

My Verizon store is saying my S8 is not eligible for the $800. I called another verizon and they said it was. I called back to my verizon store and he cautioned me and said it would only be $400 when the credits actually came through.

Is everyone getting the $800 off and this guy is a knucklehead?

Have you logged into your account and then checked online [verizon.com]? I'm guessing it all depends on your current account plan and if you've recently traded in a phone.

I hate that Verizon went to 36 month installments and bill credits. People moan over the 36 month "contract" but the real travesty is being locked down to the plan eligibility requirements for 36 months and also having your line ineligible for other upgrade promotions due to the device payments.

With that said this promo is the best I've seen since they moved to 36 month installments. Plan eligibility only requires the 5G Start plan and very old phones like the iPhone 6 and Samsung S6 qualify for the highest tier trade in. In addition trade in phones can be damaged. These phones are easy to buy for less than $50 used.

The slick deal here is to double dip trade in. Buy through Samsung and pay with Verizon device installment and maximize the the 2 trade ins with Samsung for instant credit. Then trade in an older phone like the S6 for $800 bill credits over 36 months. You only need 2 months to break even and anything after that is cherry on top.

Can the phone just be unlocked. I found a iphone 6s just for parts that's got an icloud issue for $40

No in my experience it cannot be account locked (icloud, Google, etc.) It also needs to be functional since they want to be able to find the IMEI via settings.

I think the deal may be dead, I'm only getting $400 for my Note 8, although someone above claims to have gotten the deal for a S7... so maybe the deal just died? Bummer

How did you sign up without upgrading or adding a new line? 2 or 3 years?

My trade in was rejected, saying "We have received a different device than expected". I'm past the return window too... any data points on best practices to fight this? I have pics of the trade in, etc

You can find the matrix for the current promotion that has new line/upgrade/plan/phone tier via Best Buy: S22 series https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...4515081836, Flip4/Fold4 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/cond...7009745305

The offer period for low tier phones receiving $800 bill credits ended. You're seeing people report back who ordered during the offer window.

Did you send in the device with the same IMEI as the submission? What device was it?

You can contact the trade in department directly to dispute. 1-800-416-8894

Well, after way too much time on the phone with Verizon: She verified all my information and tried to claim the phone was a different phone and not eligible. I mentioned I took pictures of the phone and the settings, plus the imei can be validated via putting the imei number into any imei checking website where it shows an Aristo 5. She put me on hold again to talk to someone (30+ minutes). Then started telling me it was a 'low tier' and only eligible for $400. I have had to go back and forth with her on it. She said she can't find the promotion for the $800 and is claiming that it is $400, even though my emails and their own website says "estimated trade in value: $800". Ugh.

What device did you buy and when was the order date? Ask them to check for all promotions active at the time you placed the order. Remind them that the $400 value is the current promotion but you placed the order when there was another promotion that have since expired and you should eligible for active promotions for when you place the order, not when you submitted the trade in device if done within 30 days of new device activation.

As a reminder stay calm, cool, and courteous with the rep. That's the most effective way to get them to help you as you guide them to try and help you on a task they don't normally perform on a day-to-day basis.

If the trade in department is being difficult call customer care at 611. Yes you'll have to repeat your situation but the care rep can be your advocate when they reach out to trade in to help assist with your issue.

I know all of this is frustrating and you are spending a lot of time trying to resolve this issue but stay persistent and you should be able to get them to honor the trade in value.

For your reference these were the trade in values on 8/23:

S22 series: https://web.archive.org/web/20220...4515081836
Flip4/Fold4: https://web.archive.org/web/20220...7009745305
