14 nights after installing, woken up at 4am by a false alarm. All interconnected, so extremely distressing. Once was enough for me. Sadly, I returned them all. Wanted to love them!!
YMMV but it happened to me. Just providing a data point.

They looks the same but are different products. This is a Z-Wave model that doesn't interconnect except through a Z-Wave base (like the Ring Alarm base station).
This is the non-Z-Wave model (which looks identical):

Costco still sells them, but hardwired is NOT Z-Wave compatible. Z-Wave and hard-wired are mutually exclusive.

Unfortunately, there are lots of reports of this one false alarming too, including 3 other people in this thread.
With my previous experience, I'd personally want to do more research before purchasing this one. It's got different connectivity hardware, but is the smoke/CO detection hardware different to improve the false alarm problem?
Thanks for pointing that out though, it is an important detail that I missed in my hurry to share my negative experience.

I've never had any problem linking up the units, although it's loud and tedious. I've paid up to $45 (2008) to $39 (2022), so the Costco price is great for 3 units. Just be sure to check the mfg date, anything over a year old & you won't get the full life expectancy. I've experienced 7-8 years.
I have quite a bit of z-wave devices in my house, connected to a Hubitat. However, they are all wired or plugged in, except for a z-wave lock. What I don't understand is why there is no wired z-wave model of these smoke detectors. It's baffling to me.
My main concerns of the z-wave model is lack of intercommunication and battery life, though I've read battery typically lasts a year.
I did some research and if you want wired z-wave functionality, it's best to go with wired non z-wave smoke detectors and pair them with EcoLink firefighters which detect the sounds and alert via z-wave.

Unless they decide to offer a wired version look elsewhere.
