Perfect! I saw these LG Gram 16, 17, deals, almost went for it. But I really wanted a 14', and I told myself to hold out. Now it's finally here!

Have a Legion 5i, Macbook Pro 14, and MBA. But lately finding myself really needing a lightweight Windows laptop with decent processing power and battery life, just for spreadsheeting + data processing.

This LG Gram ticks my box mainly because:
- Non-touch HD+ screen
- Uniform-sized arrow keys
- No horrible home/end/pg up/ pg dn column of buttons on the right for a 14incher, which shift the shift, enter, delete keys.
- Thin bezel

You won't believe how hard it is to find a 12th Gen ultrabook with those specific design choices in 2022. There are many great powerful thin and lights this year. But they have some horrible design mistakes one way or another.
- All 2022 Chinese 14 inch HD+ ultrabooks have a fking touchscreen. It looks horrible and touch is useless on a 14'inch, non-flip, Windows laptop. It adds weight, consumes more battery life, and make the screen look grainy (because of the layer of touch sensor, the screen looks non-laminated and you can see tiny black dots looking closely). These rules all the Lenovo Yogas, Xiaomi Pros, Asus whatevers out of the window.
- Besides a few Asus and this LG Gram, ALL other ultrabooks have this: tiny up-and-down arrow but full-size left and right arrow configuration. This includes Dell new XPS, XPS Plus, Thinkbooks, HP Envy, and all the Chinese brands mentioned above. I, cannot, stand this horrible design element. Just no.
- For the few remaining 14inchers that pass the above criteria, most of them decides to half-size Shift, Enter, Backspace, and add a clumn of function keys on top of the right arrow key (home, end, page up, page down). Again, cannot stand this.

LG Gram has got it right. It's purpose is pure and clear - lightweight, good battery, good power, good keyboard layout. No need those baggage mentioned above.

If weight is important, keep in mind that touch screen models are heavier. I have a 16" 2-in-1 (touchscreen) LG gram.

Amen, the 17" is *expletive-worthy* light. We have one, and I still can't believe it everytime I lift it off the table or carry it with me in a briefcase. It's so light, you forget it's there.

My LG is nice, although I haven't had much time to get on it lately. I'm still rocking an old Acer that I bought on here several years ago. Windows 11 has me suspicious as it seems that Microsoft's operating systems are only good every other release XP....vista....SEVEN....8.1...10.... I'm sure the "Apple wrap" they gave it is only a place holder and the new O/S is almost ready for launch.

As far as the laptop itself though, it's definitely nice and lightweight. While some people like to equate quality with heft, I think LG struck a pretty good balance. I especially love the version I bought came with 32GB of memory and 1TB SSD. Hopefully this brand lasts me longer than my Acer did as I can already tell that some of the USB drives are starting to separate from the MoBo.

I have the 17" being delivered today for pickup at Costco. Trying to decide whether to cancel it and snag the 14" instead. I think I would need to pick up some extra side-mounted monitors for it. But I like the smaller size, and 2.2 lbs seems crazy light.
Isn't 16" just what happens when you spec a display as wide as a 15.6" but taller for the extra rows?

I've used the 14 at work for about 2 months now and it's been an excellent device. Battery life is very good and the i5 has plenty of processing power for what I do (big excel sheets and tons of browser tabs). Plus not having to remember a USB C dongle (like with most laptops) for HDMI is a nice bonus. Happy to answer any questions about it, it's sitting in front of me now.

I like to buy as much processor as I can figuring that's the one piece of hardware that is generally not upgradeable. Memory, storage space, and even screen-size are upgradeable with not much intrusion. And for those that wonder how screen size is upgradeable, I mean in terms of external. There are quite a few portable offerings as well. The beauty of a separate external is that it can be used on other devices.

Another thing to consider is that some newer generation chips run almost as fast, if not faster than their larger versions from a few years ago. An i7 from 2020 may not run much better than an i5 from this year. You can go to Intel's website and compare model numbers.

i5 is plenty fast - supposedly it clocks similarly to an i7 11th gen H laptop processor. I really want to upgrade from the 11th gen to 12th gen for my egpu setup. Everyone in the egpu community is raving about the 12th gen.

I have the I5 and the I7 for the 16" model. After doing some testing it turns out the I5 model uses about 10 to 25 percent more battery life than the I7. Performance between the two is negligible, except for graphics. There is between a 10 to 20 percent increase in graphics between the two models.

Well the 16" is basically a 16:10 version of the 15". It's usually about the same width but a little taller.

Those are great points. For someone that does video calls ~7 hours day, would this device struggle? / how is the webcam?

Also do occasional Premiere/AE outside of work, but mostly concerned w/ this thing handling video calls/streaming all day long w/ screensharing.

From the reviews I've seen it looks like these 12th gen grams get less battery life than the 11th gen versions. You get around 1 1/2hrs less with the 12th gen according to notebookchecks review. That's a little disappointing for a laptop like this. I wonder if a 12th gen U instead of P would have been a better choice for thermals and battery.
