Now that we've reached the point that solid 3070 ti cards like a Ventus OC are getting put on sale down to $450, I really can't see the merit in buying a laptop like this now. The model may be new, but none of the parts are close to being new.

The Legions certainly were some of the best deals you could get your hands on about a year ago and heading into the holidays, and I'm sure by this time next year they'll be an interesting prospect again especially if next-gen cards face similar availability issues, but this would be the wrong time to buy one. Even if you were specifically looking for a laptop, you're better off waiting a little longer to get a better specced new model at about the same price, or just getting an older model around BF with a better GPU while maybe foregoing the Alder Lake processor.

Didn't we just see a 3070/3070ti laptop for this price?

Probably, but this is a thin-and-light form factor, and one of the better built one at that.

Looks good, but thin and lighter laptops + 12th gen Intel don't seem to be a good mix so far.

You can't compare a gaming desktop to a gaming laptop. Two totally different use cases. Imagine trying to defend your argument but your don't have room for a monitor and pc. But you barely have room for a laptop. Or you travel a lot. Or your gf/wife won't let you get a desktop but your allowed to have a laptop lol

The TGP of the 3060 in this is 100W! Which is low and not worth the asking price IMO.
The battery is 71Whr and no RJ-45 port which is unusual for a gaming laptop.

Here's the full spec sheet:

I don't disagree with your concerns, they should be considered...but

You are comparing boxy gaming laptops to thin and light. I don't think 100 watts is bad for the form factor. You can add a USB-C to ethernet adapter or a usb c hub. OVerall I find it an interesting model as long as you don't mind its limitations.

Way too expensive for a 3060 at this point, even with the 12th gen.

How does the Core i7-12700H compare to the Ryzen 7 6800 equivalent. I realize the integrated graphics on the Ryzen would be superior but that issue seems moot since this has a high end GPU.

Slightly underpowered GPU (at least a ti!) but otherwise very solid.

See I just like laptops, I have an iMac, as my primary work station. So I'd rather just a laptop as a game rig. When not used push into the corner.

6700s g14 vs 1060 of this one? This one would be better right more often than not?
