Cell phone does not receive incoming calls

About 5 weeks ago, my Samsung Galaxy A32 (non 5g) phone received a 888mb update from Samsung. After the phone rebooted and installed the update, I would no longer receive incoming calls. When someone called, it would ring on there end for 2-4 rings, then go to vmx.
The phone did not ring on my end. I have a google voice number in addition to my regular cell number from Metro. The GV does not ring either.
I have no issue making outgoing calls. The problem is present whether my number is dialed from someone's contact list or direct dialed.
I used another cell phone to call myself. As the line was ringing on the 2nd phone, I looked at the phone with the issue. In the upper right hand corner, where the bars are displayed for the signal strength, the bars would momentarily be replaced by a circle with a line thru it. The temp icon would flash a couple of times, then return to the bars indicator.
I contacted Metro 6 times. The first 3 times they said "we're on it"
The 4th time they said it was my phone and I needed to do a factory reset. Same result
The 5th time they said "we're really on it this time"
The 6th time they said "not our problem-replace your phone"
Haven't really seen anything on the web to offer any help.
Thoughts?

Call yourself from another phone to verify you still end up at YOUR voicemail and can access it with your pin after * or #. There are scams of there that involve stealing your phone number.
Pull up the app info page for the phone app and clear the storage and cache. (may need to do this for some hidden system apps too)
Assuming none of the above makes a difference demand your carrier give you a new SIM card / acquire one yourself and transfer to the new sim.
