This is not a deal per say but I think people can benefit knowing that the citi/Costco Visa card now provides 4% cashback on EV charging. I believe this added benefit started around July or August because I got only 1% cashback on my June charging sessions.

Lol. For real? Save 40 cents a charge.
This is very cool, but the real slickdeal is charging at home with TOU rates
Seriously. Even for gas 5% (PFCU) isn't a huge amount. That's like $3ish a week. YEs it's $150 a year but not like it's thousands of $$$

For reference a M3LR has a 70kwh pack and 4% supercharging at $0.25/kwh (same price I pay at home ironically) would save you a whopping $0.70 for a full charge.

If that entices you to buy a Tesla..... uh.......

And that's not taking into account that the cash back is only usable if you have a costco membership (I think they let you cash it, and not just use it on purchases).

The official Citicards.com state (source [citicards.com] and screenshot):
  • 4% cash back on eligible gas and EV charging purchases worldwide, including gas and EV charging at Costco, for the first $7,000 per year in gas and EV charging purchases and then 1% thereafter.
  • Certain Non-Qualifying Purchases. You will only earn 1% cash back, not 4% for gas and EV charging purchases made at superstores, supermarkets, convenience stores and warehouse clubs other than Costco or for fuel used for non-automobile purchases
Note that if you're able to charge at home, the 4% may not matter as much.

I hope this helps,

To be clear, it appears that the 4% back on charging is only for EV Charging at Costco, right? Superchargers or other 3rd party chargers wouldn't apply unless they're attached to a Costco?

EDIT: appears to be any charger.

That doesn't sound correct. Why do you think that?

Update: I assume you may have found the "Certain Non-Qualifying Purchases" statement as being ambiguous or confusing, as it states, "You will only earn 1% cash back, not 4% for gas and EV charging purchases made at superstores, supermarkets, convenience stores and warehouse clubs other than Costco or for fuel used for non-automobile purchases." However, above that, it states (emphasis mine), "4% cash back on eligible gas and EV charging purchases worldwide." That means the only places that are excluded are superstores, supermarkets, convenience stores and warehouse clubs. This means places like Tesla Supercharger and Electrify America are eligible, unless they're connected to "superstores, supermarkets, convenience stores and warehouse clubs."

Take care,
Tofu Vic

Of course, you should use Tesla super chargers sparingly to prevent fast deterioration of battery life!!
If you cannot charge at home go to charge point stations if speed of charging is not a criteria!

This is great news for EVs! Hopefully more gas cashback reward cards start including EV charging.

If that entices you to buy a Tesla..... uh.......

And that's not taking into account that the cash back is only usable if you have a costco membership (I think they let you cash it, and not just use it on purchases).

I don't know where you live, but many of the supercharging locations in NY are $0.46/kWh. I experienced this first hand while driving up to Montreal just couple of weeks ago.
