I have a door that is sticking really hard, would this be the right tool to shave 1/16in off?

Just ordered it. Tried using store credit in online checkout but it didn't work. Wonder if I can return it at the store and then rebuy it with my store credit?
Store credit is literally store credit. If online has a discount, the store will match it up or usually displays the item with the discounted price.

Definitely. Sure beats a hand planer or chisel. I'm itching to get one but I have way too many tools. I have a corded planer but cordless sure is nice.

Use masking tape on the door to help prevent splintering and take off less than 1/16" at a time, even if you need to make multiple passes. You can't put the material back if you get too aggressive on the first pass. This should work fine for that.

Just click the link in this thread and select 2 batteries and charger included below the product.
Arggh. That's a great deal. But, I have a Porter Cable corded planer and just finished planing a whole deck. I would like a cordless, especially after I lost the wrench to remove the blades on the planer.

I have other One+ tools and I see this other deal of two 4Ah batteries with charger for $79:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI.../318940498

Are these batteries any different than the other deal of two 4Ah batteries for $99 with a "free" planer?

This is the right work for this planner.
While a Planner is an ideal tool to shave 1/16 in off a sticking door, could a Router handle the job well (kind of) too?
In other word, from an average homeowner point of view (not a pro woodworker), which tool is more versatile, a planner or router? I understand these are totally different tools, but that's for people try not to own every piece of tools out there.

Is this better than using a sander?
Depends on the job. If you want to ensure you have a perfect edge on a side up to 3.25" this tool will do it by removing 1/16" of material per pass.

A sander can do the job put typically not as well. Us humans tend to over sand in a few spots leading to a less than perfect surface.

Unfortunately store credit won't work online. But giving a try at store is good if you have one there

If you're looking for versatile tool between handheld planner and router, I would say go with the handheld router since it is more versatile and more necessary than the planner. The shave 1/16" of sticking door, either these tools will make the job done very well.

Same price on Amazon, normally $64, so not a great deal here:

I got $15 off $100 online/in-store email offer for using HD credit card just 1 hour ago. Would probably get the planer with the batteries if that works, thank you!
Update: It worked - $90.37 after tax for the set

Looks like Amazon has it for $55 plus free shipping:

Ryobi 18-Volt ONE+ Cordless 3-1/4 in. Planer P611 (Tool Only)(Bulk Packaged) https://a.co/d/iOEtuAp
You need to know that Amazon is not an authorized Ryobi reseller and your warranty will probably not be honored if the tool breaks.
