I waffled on this for a while and decided I wouldn't use it to control anything expensive. The joule rating is low for things like TVs, game systems, and home audio and according to the specification manual, the clamping voltage is REALLY high at 600V on every path (L-G, L-N, N-G).
A very good clamping voltage is 330V and many "average" protectors are about 400V, so this lets through at least 1.5x as much voltage to your devices before it starts routing the excess to ground.
I opted to stick with a separate high joule low clamping voltage surge protector and using separate smart plugs on the things I want to control/monitor.
I'd use this for things like lamps or a cheap stereo or maybe a step up from the cheapest sacrificial protectors you can buy off the shelf, but not for anything I couldn't afford to repair/replace. No surge protector can defend against a lightning strike, but I don't want to accidentally sacrifice my TV because it's under protected the next time someone hits a power pole and blows the transformer, either.

Alexa, turn on the arcade. Love it!
Or maybe for a home bar where you need lights, blenders, ice maker, etc. powered.
I've not tried it, but I seem to recall it being one of those use cases where you can definitely use it to shut them off, but you'd have to manually turn them back on. Better to get a Bluetooth plug for your router/modem setup.
