If you're buying Lego sets for the express purpose of replacing the objects they're designed after for similar pricing, I don't think you're the target audience. It's a Lego kit. You're paying for the experience of putting it together and enjoying the tangible results. Do 1000-piece 2D puzzles of succulents also baffle you?
For some people it's nice because they have to go into an office for work. I don't have this set, but I've thought about getting it because I have other Lego sets at the office and buying this would add a bit of ambiance without the need to water and re-pot the plants when they grow too big. But to each their own I guess.
It seemed implied by your exact wording:

"I can't keep up with this world."

You really should just step away from this one. The incoming semantics debate from you is just further opportunity for you to embarrass yourself even more than the edit you already made to your first post. It's really okay to learn from your oversights.

Picked one up. My wife loved the flowers one and her birthday is coming up so this is a no brainer. Also picked up the two roses set for $13 so she can add those to the first set which she has put into a vase.

$50 for plastic imitations of plants that would set you back a few bucks, I can't keep up with this world.

Edit: funny to see people actually downvote taking a breath to consider whether spending $50 on plastic toys that emulate vastly cheaper natural flora is "slick." But again, you do you. Goodwills, garbage and Salvation Army are full of this stuff, and $50 bucks is a lot of money to some people. If you're anywhere actual succulents grow, people often will just give you some for free. Learning to build and raise a garden is more interesting and valuable to some than completing a $50 predetermined plastic puzzle. But feel free to buy this for your kids or yourself if you feel it's worth the money to you, the environment is pretty much doomed at this point anyway.

C'mon, add another edit! Keep digging.

My wife and I built these a couple weekends ago. There are 3 bags and 3 instructions (each containing 3 plants). We each worked on our own bags. For the last bag, I pulled up the instructions online and built the last plant while she worked on the other 2. It was a fun weekend activity and they look neat all together.

What is up with this site lately? Everyone is logging on to complain about the products. When I was a kid I had a Lego castle with Lego knights. Would a Lego castle and Lego knights be a suitable replacement for a real castle and real knights? Absolutely not. You'd probably lose that battle with the French!

There is a lighting kit for this model too. Depending on the cost, it maybe worth it.

Might be waiting a long while or have to get on eBay used.

These sets are very popular, a good chunk of my office that isn't into LEGO at all love them as little decor pieces with no maintenance.

NOTE to all: You can get the Pirates and Treasure VIP Add On Pack (40515) valued at $10 now when buying this on LEGO and also get the cash-back VIP points. This might arguably be a better deal if you want the Pirate set or plan to sell it later.

These are readily available as Chinese knockoffs (bootlego) on AliExpress, and the quality is basically indistinguishable from LEGO.

I picked this one and another one up a few months ago for $20 each.

As someone that has experienced the knock offs this is a massive lie. Quality is not nearly the same. A Lego brick made 20+ years ago will still work perfectly with one bought today. These knockoffs don't always fit correctly brand new out of the box. The one knock off set I got I threw in the trash where it belongs.
