Brand glorious new.
With some simple know-how It could be serviced, without having any new-tech replacement boards; that will not likely be supported or available long-term.
This thing goes from conversation level to playing with a loud drummer.
Gain goes from country to mid metal. Full Metal with a boost.
With a Katana one would have to bump up to the high price of the 100 MK2; in order to get a (simple) effects loop and comparable larger speaker. Then it weights to much compared to this tube amp. Katana's and this both are good though.
For me: The $35 rechargeable Cube Baby effects pedal works famously with this amp. I get boost, other pre-amp flavors, more gain boost and EQ. Modulation, time and feedback effects, more reverb and (USB loadable) cab sim IR's (like 4x12 Mesa). But I thought cab IR's were supposed to overly compress into a real guitar cab; but they don't oddly seem to here! And I haven't even put it into the effect loop yet (for the modulation effects).

As is often the case, mine came biased pretty cold from the factory, and biasing it to the Laney Cub 12R recommendation of -12.5v greatly improved the overall tone. For the amount of time I play it, I have to replace the duo of EL84's in it about once per year, and all is well.
I'm also watching for used Katana 100 MK II combo under $250 USED; because hacking my own part functional effect loop into the 50 is not going to happen instead. But I would prefer the weight of the 50 of course. Heads are too costly!
With the tube amp I was put off by warm up time; but the direction say 2 minutes. No big deal. I was worried about tube going out; but they typically last well over two years and more. And it's usually just the two power tubes as matched (EL84). I was wrongly thinking solid state and digital would avoid all the hassle; but then I saw how a blown power chip in the Katana 50 had to be re-soldered in. Then it hit me; these new designs require a board level replacement and these companies do not continue to offer parts over the long term. A new version every season. While anything CAN be fixed; the new stuff will get passed by, sooner. Not that you shouldn't get one; but you just have to accept that.
Case in point is Fender had a go online amp they just STOPPED supporting. Leaving users pissed. This can not happen with an all tube amp of known, fixable circuit design.

You can easily pay thousands for a guitar and it's still a guitar and probably needs the same setup anyway. Prob to heavy also.
That's not to say a Squire affinity and in perfect condition is not worth about $100 to $125 used. But it really plays no better, I actually much prefer the sound of the ceramic pups. And reviewers agree. YMMV if you get a broke one; but they take returns. I enjoy the fact I have $59 (shipped and taxed) into my strat, Plus $10 (shipped and taxed), I optionally added for the best possible nut. You can fix (Build up, glue, recut) the cheap plastic nut if you need to spend nothing. I've achieved very low action for strat and the nut is paramount in eliminating ALL buzz, yet keeping low action height. It stays in tune well; with a floating trem (bends up and down). Firm spring tension(to a balance).
But if you want perfect setup (Could we tell though?) then yes go get a deal inside a store, for a INCLUDED setup on a used Affinty around $125. Problem is seasons happen. Are you going to go back and pay $200 for re-setup and learn to DIY anyway? I found it well within my abilities. YMMV. Watch some vids first and do not crack anything. Go extremely easy removing over glued in nuts. Use one drop of glue, if that installing a nut. I mean the TUSQ nut (correct model) slide right in. I only had to raise it up for perfect action and the largest string.
I get attenuation balanced across the frets too. And my fret polish is like butter.

A newish computer can do digital modeling and much more. Get free Linuxmint.com OS WITHOUT deleting any other OS. Best on a separate SSD drive. Practice covered.
But if you want a one switch and go instant solution then the rock solid metal cased tiny Cube Baby is THE way. Minus the power amp part then it makes a good pre-amp backup system also. Practice covered $35. I like it because it's manual mode and it's just the regular knobs, to dial in numerous tones. And you can save your own presets by pressing and holding a pedal stomp switch, being a remote foot switch you don't also have another to buy. It's an IR loader! (Amps types and cab/mics), via USB. You don't need much for practice then. Headphones and done. Plays backing tracks via Bluetooth wireless too. So you can play along. And one quick charge (And USB phone charger connector) lasts for weeks! No 9v pedal power system costs.
For me and noted, YMMV; I love that this one all-tube combo does home vol to stage volume (loud drummer jam) and it's so portable, with amp and Celestion both. AND with the Cube Baby, multi effects modeling pedal (saving a million pedals) it's like a hybrid tube/digital.
I like that either preamp tube or preamp modeling pedal can do the high gain. And even together, metal heads. I don't even need a tube screamer pedal for a extra boost. The Cube Baby does that. I got gain overflowing.
I must remind you though that we don't know if that included the newer reverb, tubes or other parts, shipping, tax, stacked discounts, affiliate seller discounts, promos, support mistake credits, open boxed, blemished, accumulated credits and/or new card (hard pull) discounts.
We've GUESSED with inflation; that this ($202) might be it, ongoing.
We do not know, though. I'm N O T betting on Black Friday. Oh and I got tat $14 credit for the price drop and why I'm looking at the amp right now.

Apartment = headphones. So Cube Baby $35.
Or you can get the 15W combo and leave it on 1W and like 0.5 volume (or gain) until you go play with a drummer out.
If you do not need to keep up with a drummer or have specific recording needs then you probably already have all you need. The Cube Baby is just $35 for instant gratification and headphones in apartments. Heck the Cube Baby into a stereo (or big Bluetoth speaker) will murder the 5W amp dead. No contest. I've tested it.
Only get a 5W combo if it's cheaper than a separate amp head you need.
Don't know your cash; but save up to $202. Right?
