I'll add my 2 cents to counter the criticisms for this phone. I got the 6a for $299 from the deal a couple weeks ago. I haven't had any over heating, battery lasts all day, apps open snappy, and photos are vastly better than my old Moto G Power. The fingerprint sensor worked fine before I put a tempered glass screen protector on it. Now it works about half the time on the first touch, but I'm okay with that given I could remove the screen protector if I thought it was a problem. I think a lot of folks are trying to compare this phone to a flagship. At this price point, it compares to motorola and other lower end phones, and quite frankly it beats them in almost every respect.
I upgraded to this from my 3A XL and I am somewhat disappointed. Phone gets overheated often, battery life seem to suck and getting used to the fingerprint reader on the screen.
Pixel 1/1 XL has unlimited original quality photo backup.

Pixel 2-5 has unlimited reduced quality photo backup.

Any pixel after 5 will NOT have free photo backup - anything uploaded from such Pixel phones will occupy the 15GB shared space with Google Photo/Gmail/Google Drive.

This is honestly a solid deal for the Pixel 6a. Better than the flips people were doing to get it for $150 + trade in a month ago and $50 less than the similar front page deal from two weeks ago.

Unfortunately the Pixel 6a suffers from a finicky fingerprint reader, poor video recording, and some overheating/reception issues, but outside of that is an excellent phone with great still photography, snappy performance, and a full 5 years of support, particularly notable for just $240. If I didn't already have a flagship phone, I'd jump on this and hope for Google to iron out the bugs via software/firmware updates.

Good find, OP.

Great price for this, but why? A 6a fire sale only a month after release, but only a month before they release the 7 and 7 Pro? Google being idiotic again. Also, future trade-in values for 6a's are going to be garbage.

it's great for $240 but if you have any Pixel 3, 4, 4a, 4a 5g, 5, then this phone is not as good as those

I ordered Pixel 5a last year, right when it was released and before I went on vacation overseas. The phone was overheating, especially when taking lots of photos and videos. After I came back I contacted Google trying to return it. CS have requested that I work with their support which wasn't able to fix the constant overheating. Their sessions were slow, responses were coming typically on the next day. After numerous resets they finally gave up but would not take it back, claiming their15 days return policy.

If you decide to get this phone, you may want to check if you can record a video for more than 2-3 minutes I have a feeling that it still has not been fixed hearing others with similar stories. Their support is waste of time.

Google phones have really been heading south for a while. I keep looking at them (have had several) to buy a new phone, but I just can't bring myself to buy one anymore.

I even think of an iphone sometimes (shudder), but supporting apple is a bitter pill to swallow.

I'm not a fan of google anymore though either so it's tough (would like to see google gutted like a pig in a slaughterhouse). Couldn't happen to a nicer company, but that's another subject.

Heating issue I would say has been the same since pixel 4 or even 3.
I upgraded to 6a from 4 because of the battery and overheating, but the overheating is entirely the same.
Not a fan of fingerprint, but the back tapping is nice, especially you can change what it does. Disappointed that you can't squeeze the sides to access assistant tho

We have 4 of these phones, and have had no problems at all with overheating and the batteries last all day with plenty to spare. The fingerprint sensor on my phone works most of the time in the first try, and if I don't have it right in the exact spot then I move it for the next attempt and it works. The fingerprint problem I wonder if it is because people don't have lots of images taken from lots of different finger pressures and angles. Also, If you enable smart lock for on body detection or location or when paired in your car then you don't need to unlock the phone every time you pick it up anyways. I like that you can summon Google by just tapping the back of the phone twice. I do not have a screen protector so maybe that is why I don't have a problem with the fingerprint unlock. But seems from the fact that there are 4 of us that have upgraded to this phone now I would suspect that the problems that people are speaking of are overblown.

Been using this for 3 weeks. Got it for $150 after trading my broken 4a. I've never encountered overheating issues. Suspecting it is related to games or other intensive apps. The battery lasts until 6:00 p.m. for me which is not enough But still much better than my 4A which dies around 2:00 p.m.
