8GB of DDR5 RAM are soldered onto the board, with another 8GB SODIMM in the memory slot.

12th gen beast chip and an old 3060. Not even a 3060 Ti, but should at least be a 3070 or 3070 Ti…

And the soldered ram is lame. You can add more, but only 16gb will be dual(quad?) channel, but you can add a 32gb stick for 40gb max.

The ram is DDR5, so I believe each stick runs in dual channel already. The mismatching sticks might mean they won't run in quad channel which I think wouldn't be noticeable outside benchmarks? I could be wrong...but I feel this comes up all the time lol.

Yeah I've seen that. Not clear on dual or quad, but I think it's dual on each stick "technically", but not full speed like dual channel ddr4.

Either way, you are losing performance, BUT after watching some videos, it's not as extreme as ddr4 losses.

You're paying $1300 for a 3060 laptop.

This is the cut down version of the M16. FHD instead of QHD, 3060 instead of 3070ti, 8GB ram instead of 16GB, etc.

Everything is fairly solid, except the GPU is meh if you're getting this for gaming. But for productivity work (if you want a high refresh screen) then it's decent and fairly light for what it is. Keyboard and trackpad is excellent. Battery can be decent too if you shut off the GPU entirely and run it in power saving mode (& still keep dynamic refresh via windows).

Now my main complaint, and why I returned mine, is the FHD screen is kinda...lame. It doesn't look quite sharp and the colors seem a bit duller compared to the 1440p version of this laptop. Sooo yeah. Personally I'd opt for a 1440p 120hz+ and that's what I did.

Colors will always look lame on all RTX cards, you don't like hearing the truth well there you have it, just stop blaming all ips display for Nvidia mediocrity... Even Intel Arc is looking great on any ips display so far much closer to Radeon card which has most beautiful natural colors out there, we don't need to beg for OLED display all the time like you all do sorry bro, just facts!

I bought this when the last time it was on sale and decided to return it when I saw it's just FHD. It's good. It's loud and has a high pitch fan noise which almost every gaming laptop has right now. At $1300, it's a solid deal. But I would still skip it personally for that FHD screen.

I hope you do know it's FHD+/WUXGA and not the usual FHD, right?
it's still quite better than the latter.

I know, it's 1200p, but still, I have a laptop with a WQXGA screen aside. And that makes a huge difference.

I didn't know this was a thing.

Since you said "...will always look lame..." is their a technical reason for that?

Nvidia uses crappy chroma sampling hence colors tend to look bad, more like a TN instead of real IPS display
