How does this compare to the ASUS AC1900 that people convert to RT-ac68u. There used to be many threads on this router I mentioned. I still have mine and it's running pretty solid if wondering if I should get this to upgrade to wifi 6.

Wireless bridge capable? I have 3 routers doing it now but a 4tj would be nice for the basement, basement
It does support wireless bridge (not mesh). I bought two and set one for wireless bridge. One acting as a router is in the basement and the 2nd one is on the 1st floor of my house. It shows around 850Mps link speed which is faster than my internet service.

Would this be an upgrade to the Comcast/Xfinity xFi wifi6 gateway that they give?

I purchased this router last time (weeks ago) to replace my tm-ac1900 (Asus RT-AC68) on dd-wrt , but it cannot compare with my 6+ years old router, weaker signal with lower speed...
so I converted it to openwrt as wireless client mode. The weird thing, it crashes my main router signal to make it unusable for other devices...

Anyone comapre this with TP-Link Archer A7? I know A7 is not WiFi 6.
I know it's not an exact match, but I replaced my Archer C7 with this one from the last time it went on sale. I've been having no drops in connection and the coverage is significantly better too.

I wish I had done a speedtest prior to replacing so I could compare but unfortunately didn't think of doing it at the time.

That's not good to hear. What's the most solid router out? I really don't care about max speed. I also would like to run two in wired bridge mode
I have two Asus rt-55ax(got them $50 a piece from amazon warehouse like new) using wired backhaul. It has been rock solid

You need to get a separate modem for this to function. This isn't a modem router unit. This is only a router unit

Would anyone reccomend upgrading to this from a tmo/asus router? I don't really want to have to flash custom firmware, just want to use it.
Just flash OpenWrt. It's just flashing the factory image and then the sysupgrade image. At least it will get continued support over time, and it adds many more features and a much nicer interface.

I got this last time but for $21 dollars with tax. It was a much better deal.

I used it to extend my wifi range in another part of the house and the wireless bridge mode works flawlessly. I thought I would have trouble extending the network for printer and remote connectivity but it does everything automatically. It's just connect and go.
