Demand is incredibly weak, there is new oversupply with artificial restrictions by Nvidia to keep prices high, the used market is flooding with miner gpus, AMD competition is stiffening, all while 4XXX series is about to drop and drown everything else.
Given that, paying $500 for a 3070 is ludicrous. I'd pay $299. Anything more than that and you're likely looking at a value retention bloodbath in short order.
Also, f*ck Newegg

But yea to both lol
Either way, these combo deals in general is a precursor to what they will eventually sell these separately in a few weeks. So $400 for the gpu and $200 for the monitor is normal price
Here's a 1440p, 165hz IPS 31.5" monitor for $200 not too long ago

And here's a 3070 for $450 not too long ago either

They're doing these combo because demand is low so they're trying to get rid of things that aren't selling fast enough
Oh yea, and HOLD DA LINEEEE lol.. and f newegg. But shh secretly I like competition, so don't f newegg toooo much lol

In the end, every bit Nvidia drips the prices of these cards lowers the value of the 4 series. They are not going to sell a 3070 for $300.
I bought a 3080 ti a few weeks ago that was downvoted twice and here we are weeks later and the prices are higher than I paid.
If you want to wait and see what happens because you aren't worried about it, more power to you.
But if you are waiting for simply a $300 3070, IMO you will be disappointed. Prices will come down more, but not enough to justify waiting months.

Nvidia has admitted to playing supply games with 3XXX to combat oversupply and avoid price crashes and taking a bath on them...but that only works so much, and they can't control the used market which is beginning to flood with miner cards. Supply is only half the equation anyways. Everyone knows it was miners driving inventories to zero and prices through the stratosphere. Demand is destroyed with the ethereum merge and crypto down market. RDNA3 is going to give Nvidia stiff competition and will also release soon, so they can't delay 4XXX too long. They can't ask super premiums for 4XXX because demand is incredibly weak, at the same time supply is in surplus both used and new, and competition is fierce. Nvidia is in a trick bag. I said this MONTHS ago, and behold...people were saying the EXACT same things you just did trying to self soothe after having just been gouged, yet prices continued tumbling all the same, as though economics is a real thing independent of their emotions about their purchase.
So you bought a card last week and now it's higher. That is the definition of sampling error and means absolutely nothing in the big picture. What does mean something? Months of price data and trends, explicit statements from the company's CEO, and economics in light of the state of the market.
