Demand is incredibly weak, there is new oversupply with artificial restrictions by Nvidia to keep prices high, the used market is flooding with miner gpus, AMD competition is stiffening, all while 4XXX series is about to drop and drown everything else.
Given that, paying $500 for a 3070 is ludicrous. I'd pay $299. Anything more than that and you're likely looking at a value retention bloodbath in short order.
Also, f*ck Newegg

but purely as gaming apparatus...
keep in mind that for the MOST part since gaming was a thing, top end graphic card cost as much as game console.
when graphic card cost 800 dollars, one question you have to ask is that does that one graphic card give me more entertainment value than two consoles? does running 4k 120 really worth the extra 1000 dollar than 2k 60?
HODL!
1) will people frantically start selling last gen cards out of fear that the next gen is going to be so much better? (the debacle from 30 series being released)
2) jays2cents (youtuber) analyzed a report from Nvidia which said the prices are going to be manipulated to stay at the current level with stock manipulation. Although Nvidia probably hasn't included the second market that might soon blow up, wouldn't this mean that the prices will most likely stay stagnant?
Is IPS better for response time and viewing angles sure, but the contrast sucks and this monitor has pretty good response time.
Yet day after day, week after week the prices keep going down, and the 40 series aren't even here yet. Guess who's been right all along!
It's way easier to argue with a made up argument.
Most: Ugrr..inflation..no thanks!
Stores: Free monitor, watever on top of that.
People: Fine! I'll bite on it.

I'd buy again if they were a good value, but they aren't. Juvenile meaningless BS like yours contaminates these forums. Despite that, I've continued posting, and have continued being right, because it isn't magic, it is reality.
You can't help those that won't help themselves.
Nvidia has admitted to playing supply games with 3XXX to combat oversupply and avoid price crashes and taking a bath on them...but that only works so much, and they can't control the used market which is beginning to flood with miner cards. Supply is only half the equation anyways. Everyone knows it was miners driving inventories to zero and prices through the stratosphere. Demand is destroyed with the ethereum merge and crypto down market. RDNA3 is going to give Nvidia stiff competition and will also release soon, so they can't delay 4XXX too long. They can't ask super premiums for 4XXX because demand is incredibly weak, at the same time supply is in surplus both used and new, and competition is fierce. Nvidia is in a trick bag. I said this MONTHS ago, and behold...people were saying the EXACT same things you just did trying to self soothe after having just been gouged, yet prices continued tumbling all the same, as though economics is a real thing independent of their emotions about their purchase.
So you bought a card last week and now it's higher. That is the definition of sampling error and means absolutely nothing in the big picture. What does mean something? Months of price data and trends, explicit statements from the company's CEO, and economics in light of the state of the market.

Also their Rep convinced me that curved monitors should be reserved for bigger screens.

Pepperidge Farm remembers. Pepperidge Farm overspent on his 3080.
