Check with your car insurance before you pay out of pocket.
Lots of time you can get cracks repaired for free (usually through Safelite).
If you need a replacement, then you would have to cover your deductible, not sure if you could apply this to an insurance claim.
Yikes. So many horror stories from them. They messed up my 2021 xc40 sensors. If you have an old car may be worth it. You're better off going to someone local. Almost every industry guy knows they are the worsr quality.
Worked for me, thanks. My windshield isn't cracked but it's got a hundred tiny chips from gravel impacts that are really distracting when the sun hits them.
Repped.

Second this. We got zero deductible for auto glass. Replaced 2 windshields already this year and zero question asked, 0 deductible every time, no increase in insurance rate.
Call around your area for discount auto glass replacement. Safelite is recommended by my insurance, but if you have shitty insurance or lower coverage, Safelite is expensive as hell out of pocket.
Was able to get (a friend) a replacement windshield for $150 (their big sign promoting 50% off Safelite was accurate).
Installation was well done and the staff was very nice. It paid to shop around.

I agree, my local budget shop was charging $200 last time I checked. Used to be $100-$150 but inflation I guess. SF bay area here.
Any suggestions on how to approach windshield replacement on Highlander? Almost in every place I checked Safelite was being trashed for their left handed replacements. So I don't trust them to replace the cracked windshield on my Highlander, since it has manual unlock thing attached and a bunch of other sensors to take care of, let alone replacing the glass itself accurately.
Shitty deal since the safelite price is 3x more than local mom & pop. If you just have small chips that haven't developed into horizontal/vertical cracks then use rain-x windshield repair.
Its the of the only good value adds when there is no dedictible.. if you are paying a deductible for glass coverage and you pay over $1500 a year you are getting ripped off
Jesus, what do you drive?! We have two 2022 vehicles each over $34000 both insured for $1600 combined with $1000 deductibles
