Just as an FYI this is a 5 year old model. Don't let the big discount from the original price fool you, you can get a 945 for less than that.
Great price for a great watch. It's a Fenix in a plastic chassis instead of metal. Got mine for 400 3 years ago and it's holding up well. There is a 955 out now, so do keep in mind this is a couple generations older.
Did your Fenix 6X break or otherwise fail?

The Fenix 6X should beat this in just about every way except that it's heftier to haul on your wrist for runs vs the Forerunner.

Got a new Garmin Instinct eSports watch a couple months ago from GameStop for $126. Don't know how it compares to this one, feature-wise, but it's a great watch! Battery charge lasts 2 weeks. Don't use the eSports features at all.

Isn't e-"Sports" just video games? Curious to know what type of features the watch would provide. Tracking how fast you move your mouse? # of button presses/sec? Not knocking on the eSports athletes. Genuinely curious.

i dont own one but i almost bought into the gamestop deal. It has a app that ties into HR/spO2/bp and lets you use them in your livestream. So you can show how hard you panic when you get 360 noscoped by a guy playing a recorder [youtube.com]

Just an FYI in case anyone else is shopping for a new Garmin and qualifies. This thread talks about how to access a 20% discount at Garmin.com if you have certain health insurances:

https://slickdeals.net/f/15951349-garmin-enduro-2-forerunner-255-and-955-and-other-wearables-20-off-discount-garmin-com

Speaking from personal experience with BCBS, if you access the Garmin website via blue365deals it appears as though only certain products qualify but you just need to click on the Garmin logo to get to the regular page and explore other products to see the 20% discount (except on the Enduro 2 via BCBS). I picked up a FR255 non-music 43mm for $279.99 before tax ($349.99 MSRP) to replace my 2016 FR235 (which runs fine but likely won't hold enough juice for my slow ass for an upcoming marathon).

It's basically a standard Garmin Instinct w a broadcast mode for a few stats and software to capture that and presumably use it while streaming

My vivoactive3 is really starting to act up. And thinking of a replacement. I don't mind an older model assuming it still works great. I saw the cheapest forerunner 945 deal was 350 couple months back. That's still a solid $100+ more than this. Is this a good replacement for a vivoactive 3?

I am using a 935 that I picked up for $246 about a year ago. While I agree it is now 2 gens old, it still works great as a running watch. I admit I don't do any multi-sport tracking so I don't find the watch interface slow. I can start and end a run easily. I look at most of my stats on the iPhone app after the run. This would work well for a lot of runners on a budget.

I hadn't thought about the age of the battery. I assumed they continued to make these after the 945 came out. After the 955, I don't know. So old inventory could be a risk, I guess.

As an activity watch, I find it lacking. Sleep tracking is not accurate and stairs don't track well either.

I encourage people to buy a glass screen protector (like you can buy for a phone). It has saved me when I forgot to take the watch off while doing some jobs around the house. The screen protector got scratched but I popped on a new one. I love the idea of sapphire glass on the Fenix though…

Thinking it all through, If I had to replace my 935 today then I would jump up to a discounted 945 or even a 955 because I'm a long term user and can afford a bit more. If I was only looking short term and I wanted to track my training stats then this would do fine.
