TP-Link® Archer C4000 Tri Band MU-MIMO Wireless Gateway Router $79.99 Free Shipping

One Question: This vs Netgear WAX206(use as router $90), which one is better?

Wells Fargo debit card owners can get up to 8 dollars cash back from 80 or more on an Office Depot purchase if they activate the deal in their banking app.

Still, I don't see a good reason to invest in AC wifi hardware anymore. Seems like they've fixed the bugs with AX routers now, and the battery savings are actually noticeable if both devices are AX-rated

The WAX206 should be around $50 or cheaper when on sale, its wifi 6 so I would easily point to that one in most cases.

The C4000 is a great router and if you dont have ISP speeds over 500Mbps I would probably recomend it over the WAX206 but man do I hate recommending Wifi 5 gear especially when your around $80, there is a Wifi 6 triband TP-Link at costco for around $130 which would be way better then either.

I've had the C4000 for close to 2 years, and it's been pretty solid. Excluding configuration changes, I think I've only had to reboot it once or twice in that entire time.

One downside is that this model will not get any more firmware updates, and it does not support TP-Links OneMesh protocol. The last FW update was almost 3 years ago.

I'm tempted to upgrade to WiFi 6, but frankly have not found a compelling reason to do so just yet. I'll probably just wait until the 6E routers get down to the $100 mark.

I upgraded to AX6000 from AC3200 and AX is the real deal! Much longer range and speeds and more devices capable confirmed. FYI: Don't use AC routers in 2022!
And I'm no early adopter, but AX is a NO-BRAINER!

There hasn't been a firmware update since Nov 2019. Pass.
