It seems like you could get $300 tax credit. Just fill out the form 5695 when filing the tax return. See the link below. https://www.energystar.gov/about/federal_tax_credits/non_business_energy_property_tax_credits

In 2023 you can get a 30% rebate up to $2000. This was part of the Inflation Reduction Act.

I'm not sure this would apply to tax credits - It doesn't seem to specifically be listed as 'Energy Star'.

You mean the dual zone ones? They are 230V and rarely go on sale. Cheapest one I have seen it’s about $2000. Just get 2 x 9000/12000btu units. These smaller units are more popular and go on sale/clearance occasionally.

115V and dual-head don't go together. 115V doesn't go over 12k BTU, and dual-zone doesn't start below 18k. 18k would draw too much amperage to be worthwhile on 115V.

I was quoted ~$10,000 all in to install 3 in 2 rooms and a living room in the East Bay. I guess it depends on your area and size.

I've installed several of these ductless A/C units. If you have basic wiring skills and can use a vacuum pump, it's not really that difficult. Loads of YouTube videos with all the info you'll need.

I have to admit, I was a little nervous installing the first one, but after that, no problem.

Someone (Pioneer perhaps) sells a purging kit so you don't have to use vacuum pump/gauges. I've used that twice with great success. Much easier than hooking up gauges and evacuating the lines.

Getting power to the unit, following all code laws of course, is the only real challenge. If you're without basic tools or understanding electrical code, hire someone. Otherwise, you can do it...

Depends on your location. New York City and most of the surrounding area, yes. But not necessarily everywhere.

Ask your city. They will be the only official source of correct information.

Not this model. 1:1 only.

No. Single zone outside unit, so it can only handle one zone.

You can go to AutoZone, Advance Auto or the like and borrow the vacuum pump. Same pump you would use to fix the AC in a car.
They go on sale for Much Much cheaper if you wait.
I bought the 120v 12k Pioneer unit in early summer for less than this 9k model and this is 230v not 120v.
I didn't infer anything, the reason for most people that 120v is better, is because you already are wired for 120v to hookup to and you therefore don't need to rewire in many cases. The 12k version runs fine on a 15 amp line

These are good units. I have one in a camper and another in our second floor. They're pretty easy to install too.

Where did you get vacuum pump for proper installation?

Great for hurricanes. Put in the garage and you've got a nice cool place to sleep, if you lose power and have a generator.

Pioneer also makes a kwik-e-vac line flushing set that they recommend without having to vacuum. I've done them both ways.

These will go down to under $600 if you wait. Pretty goo DIY system, installed two 120v 12k BTU, works great without any issue.

I was going for a 36K BTU 3-Unit 220 volt unit with professional installation costing a minimum of $15K.

Home Depot as 12K BTU 110 volt individual units, with fixtures for less than $1K. Don't you guys think this is a better deal, even with professional installation?
