I was just commenting on the Kershaw Dividend post for about $67 when I mentioned Scallions would sometimes sell in the low $30s pre pandemic. Those days are sadly gone, but $38 for this Scallion is about as cheap as you'll find a USA made Kershaw. I own a few of these and they are really excellent compact covert carry knives… esp in black, but also still have the Speed Safe quick open.

At any rate, great American knife at this price.

Features & details
2.4" high-carbon 420HC stainless steel blade offers good edge retention and a bead-blasted finish for a smooth, matte appearance
Classic black, glass-filled nylon handle includes SpeedSafe assisted opening system, and a secure dual blade locking system

Great companion for anyone in need of a compact, reliable EDC- backpackers, gardeners, hikers, hobbyists or anglers
Compact design, perfect for everyday use with a less intimidating, lightweight profile for easy storage in pockets, purses, bags, backpacks, tool boxes and more

Not good for much more than a box cutter. Weird curve to the blade. Blade constantly locks on its own. I carry this at work because I know I won't need a real knife. Paid $28 on 8/28/18 and it had the aluminum handle. Blade is really too short to do anything useful with, even without the weird curve. I'd cough up the $10+ extra for the leek. I have 4 leeks and adore them for EDC.

I must admit that my experience with the Scallion has been different. When you say the blade constantly locks on its own, what do you mean… locks closed, locks open?

I will say that you make a fair point on Amazon's Leek pricing. Just took a quick look and the plain stainless version is only $45. So, if you want a bigger USA Made Ken Onion design Speed Safe knife… this Leek is only $45:

There's a slider blade lock on it, to lock it closed, 50% of the time it is locked when I pull it out of my pocket. Never happens on my leeks, but I suppose I can increase the tension on it.

Okay, thanks… I thought the Scallion had a blade lock (but it's not on me right now and didn't recall). Yeah, all you need to do is adjust the tension on that screw. As I recall, it's a very tiny Torx head screw. If you have one of those larger bit sets (like the ones you get cheap from HFT), then you will likely have the size to adjust that tiny Torx screw.

These are around $35 on Ebay.

Wouldn't even pay that though due to the steel. For the price, you can find knives with much better steel.
