ZIPAIR Tokyo is Japan Airlines' low cost international brand. A few differences between ZIPAIR Tokyo and Japan Air:
ZIPAIR Tokyo configure their Boeing 787 in 3 x 3 x 3 seating configuration vs Japan Air's 2 x 4 x 2 seating configuration
ZIPAIR Tokyo's legroom is 31″ vs Japan Air's 33″ – 34″
ZIPAIR does not include anything with the fare besides the seat – everything is extra from carry-on, seat assignment and checked luggage. This will range from anywhere between $45 and $130 each way depending the options you pick.
But price is still better than other airlines even if you add on bags/seat assignment etc. But legroom could be an issue for some.

You will pay for absolutely everything, including water, coffee, etc. Their premium package includes 1 meal (its pretty small and comes with a tiny bottle of water), slippers, a very nice blanket, a blowup neck pillow, and ear plugs. It also includes weight upgrades for carry-on and checked luggage. In LAX they didn't check the weight of my carry-on but in Japan they checked it.
If you don't order meals ahead of time then plan to at least bring two meals or a bunch of snacks with you as it is a 10 hour+ flight.
Don't switch seats with anyone or else the flight attendants will get very angry with you since you order all food via your phone and your name is assigned to your seat.
The inflight entertainment is a joke and has about 10 movies, so bring your own. Also the inflight was completely down from LAX to NRT. Paid Inflight Internet did work to NRT but on the way back to LAX it didn't work.
The plane was probably the cleanest plane I've ever been on.
Their customer service is just slightly above Spirit.
If you can get JAL or ANA for slightly more then go with them. You get what you pay for.
Lastly, Japan is similar to the Pacific Northwest in Jan-Feb, cold and possible snow in Tokyo. End of Feb to March "should" be pretty nice though.
It's not their job to spoon feed you. They generally go above and beyond in providing additional details on deals.
Maybe lift a finger for yourself for once and do a Google search. Then you can contribute what you find here instead of whining like a helpless, entitled baby.
Or we can go your route and start name calling strangers on the Internet?
Mate, this is a post that gets SD paid, posted by a mod. Sure, it's poor on me not knowing or trying to find out what Independent traveler would mean for 1 country in the world.
My ask was not unreasonable of the mods. It is a highly unusual term to use, but that's on the Japanese government.
I would have attempted to describe what that means.
Have a pleasant day.
Probably never, but I think their plan is to prevent the disease from coming to their island nation and has the added benefit of keeping idiots out too.
If a 10 hour, zero-perks flight is okay with you, this is a pretty great deal. I expect Japan to be flooded with tourists for the next year, though. There's a huge amount of pent up demand.

So... with that in mind. Think about whether a country that takes public health and cleanliness seriously (bidets in every public bathroom, no seat covers), would want a bunch of people who don't share the same ideals visiting their country. Especially when the visitors are going to disrespect or disregard their norms.
I'm not going to debate with you on the efficacy of vaccines or masks. Do what you want (ignore what sources you want, take info from sources that justify your viewpoint). But don't ignore the impacts your actions have on those around you. The Japanese frown upon PDA. Even holding hands is considered very aggressive. Just realize Japan isn't America, far from it. Better yet, anywhere you travel isn't like the USA. So don't expect to go somewhere with completely different customs and beliefs, and expect to do whatever you want to. The respectful thing would be to at least try to assimilate to the norms of the place your visiting. Respect their way of life, and their land, just as you would expect tourists to do so here.

How are the seats and leg room comparing to say United or Delta?

Well said
I believe that after October 11, this is no longer the case? I have searched the Japan embassy website and the Japan.travel website and none of these sites mention this requirement. I also googled this and could not find anything on this restriction.
We are going to book to go in February but if this is the case, we will hold off. Do you have any kind of link I could read up on this?
