I agree.. at this point though with AMd coming out with the next gen, it has be be an incredible deal for me to bite. Im not quite there yet but pretty sure Im going to be AMD for my next build.

I was planning on holding off til the next generation as well. $599 is very, very tempting though. With the inflated pricing of the next generation, this may be the best bang for the buck for quite a while.
Have this card, bought it back in May for $749 from Newegg and from XFX as the official seller.
I upgraded from a 3060TI which is now my wife's card since her 980TI died.
I feel no regrets after the official AMD price drop and I think $699 for this specific card is already a good deal. I usually simp for Sapphire if I roll with AMD, but XFX and this card has impressed me. I will be very surprised if we ever see $599 on the card but then again AMD seems to be more consumer friendly versus greedy big green.
It does sounds like a jet engine for certain games like Satisfactory, but it's performance is around +20-40fps gains from my 3060TI at 1440p ultra settings and that's on my G-Sync monitors.
I've never had Freesync monitors since my last AMD card was a blessed Sapphire R9 Tri-290X, but I've read that G-Sync monitors can be iffy and I do see driver issues with my monitors that can be fixed with a restart. So that's annoying and currently saving for some decent Freesync monitors.
Lastly, for those who are swearing by DLSS with Nvidia cards, idk what they are seeing. With my 3060TI, I have been unimpressed with DLSS and stopped using it. I certainly don't care for it and don't miss it. With Nvidia touting DLSS 3 for its higher end cards in the 4090 series, I think they are now making it more for high end?? Which is the opposite of when they originally advertised DLSS and making older cards run games better so 🤷
I failed to see why we would want a new gen NVIDIA GPU to consumeS 400W of power. If the new AMD GPU consumes less power than NVIDIA does then I am picking up AMD.

This is a really really great deal. If I haven't already owned a 6800xt, I'd be all over this. For those hoping for $599, it could happen with prime day on October 11 and 12 or even Black Friday. With AMD dropping prices like this one can only wonder how far powerful their next cards could be. From 659 to 600 is only a difference of 59, ask yourself this question... risk it and wait to save 59 or buy it now and be worried free? Also, some of us have price protection on our credit cards. We can ask for a price adjustment if they drop further within 30 days.
Amd has driver issues, windows keeps overiding AMD drivers which sucks. If you turn any settings on in their Radeon software the picture quality looks terrible so I turn everything off. This is experience with 6800xt, looking to switch back to Nvidea, after all these year the amd driver issues have not been solved which is crazy to think about

Personally the Merc 319 Black was my stop in the holdout. With a top binned XTXH chip, its performance is equivalent to that of a 6950XT.
