Philips Hue Play Sync Box marked down $50 from $249.99 to $199.99 at Best Buy. Then, you get an additional $50 Best Buy E-gift card emailed to you at purchase.

The purpose of the sync box is to allow Philips Hue Play lights sync with your TV.
Things to note: *Must have Philips Hue Lights and the Bridge *Will not sync with built in streaming apps on a SmartTV, you would also need a fire stick, gaming console, or chrome cast (something that plugs into the hdmi) to play the apps to have it sync

You lose 4K 120hz option on consoles if you use this
So basically the order or ports is you plug your Shield/PS5/Xbox/etc into this and then the HDMI goes out of this into your TV. This only works with external devices of course though - you can't use the built-in OS on your tv to send signal to this.
Correct - this only supports EXTERNAL HDMI inputs. There aren't any TV's out there that I know of that have HDMI out abilities.

Be sure to check your email if you are a Best Buy rewards member!!!

I got an email this morning for $10 off my next order of $150 or more. So $200 - $50 (GC) - $10. The $10 mostly wipes out tax at least.

Not a huge shift and of course the $10 can be used on anything $150 or more, but if you are like me and have been eyeing these for a while, it's a good extra bonus.

Looked into these systems when I was upgrading our basement home theater setup. As many have mentioned, hue is expensive and requires an external source.

Govee is a decent workaround but I hated making my TV a unicorn with the camera protruding off the top.

I went with Ambivision, which is a UK product and had to wait a while for it to come stateside… but it uses a device that can be mounted off to the side etc in the room, where it's not as visible as the Govees attachment, and then you calibrate it to the TV using their app.

Have had it for almost a year now and it works flawlessly once set up. I set my camera for the screen capture so it's behind my center channel speaker, so you don't even see it. All you notice is the color around the TV.

Anyway, if you're looking for this effect and you want something with much more customization and tweaking capabilities, plus being out of main sight line, check ambivision out.

I assume this works ok with regular Hue light strip? I don't have the newer gradient strip yet and only the older strip behind my TV.

All of my hue lights (old bulbs, new bulbs, light strips, the gradient strips, lily (outside), lily xl (outside), calla bollards (outside) all work with it in my setup.

Govee camera can be mounted at the bottom of the tv. so it can hide behind your centre channel. I don't know why they don't advertise that. I don't own one. Having the camera at the top was a big sticking point for me.

What was best govee deal? What lights do both of these work with? Hue only?

Great price! It was hard to get this for a while. Glad they are available again and stoked to do a second set up.

Govee recently came out with an upgrade. So the older model is going for like 80 bucks with lights for 85 inch TV.

I have a ton of hue stuff but questions on this
I have an LG c1, can I plug this in, an Apple TV, Xbox X and sonos arc (currently in the eArc hdmi slot)? Or would only the apple tv benefit. I don't want to lose the Xbox 120hz gaming

If your receiver has 120hz pass through, you can use your receiver's second hdmi output to this box to preserve the 120hz

You will want to make sure you use ports 2 or 4 for gaming consoles as they have more bandwidth. There is a whole Reddit post about it. Also it does not work with apps via your smart tv. For example, if you watch Netflix via your smart tv you will not get the benefits of the sync box, you will need to watch Netflix via a console or another device that is connected to the sync box.

Like 120hz 40/48gb bandwidth or just 4:4:4?

Yup you should have no issues. https://www.theverge.com/21272142...te-harmony [theverge.com]

When it released it only supported HDR10 but in 2020 was updated with firmware. TBh I had one on my TV but ended up returning it because of signal issues. I know most love theirs though. I had a Dreamscreen back in the day (which Philips acquired and potentially created this with) and miss the simplicity of it but this is the only other option out there unless you want to go the homemade route (which options do exists but don't support dolby vision) or the govee route which uses a camera (and has a miniscule delay)
For posterity, folks should know there are other devices that do what this does (and better). They just cost even more.

More Expensive - https://hdfury.com/product/4k-diva-18gbps/ - $499+$99 - Ambient lighting using an optional kit. Dolby Vision supported. Plus, a ton more power user options built in.

Less Expensive - https://www.amazon.com/Lytmi-Back...B09VK4QF16 - $100+/- - Only a single input so if using multiple devices, you'll need a splitter/AVR as well. Supports Dolby Vision.

Note - It should be pointed out that the Govee solution of using an external camera to track what's on screen is not the only option if you exclusively use the built-in apps on your smart TV.

https://ambivision.tv/shop/ambivi...ing-system - $200 - can also do it using a camera mounted facing the TV. That said, the Govee can be mounted upside-down so that the camera is on the bottom and for many this eliminates much of its visibility.

UPDATE: There is a solution apparently that is cheaper than even the Govee; At least right now on sale.

https://www.amazon.com/Immersion-...B09KZRB79P - $65- According to a reviewer answering one of the questions - this has a few firmware updates you'll need to do, but does in fact do Dolby Vision as well.

This is not an HDMI 2.1 devices and it will never be without an actual hardware revision. the 1 and 3 ports won't properly send HDR at 4k60.

Maybe we will see a new hardware version sometime then. I'm not about to compromise my viewing experience for this so I'll have to sit this out until I'm confident it can handle 8k streams and all the tech profiles.
