Philips Hue Play Sync Box marked down $50 from $249.99 to $199.99 at Best Buy. Then, you get an additional $50 Best Buy E-gift card emailed to you at purchase.

The purpose of the sync box is to allow Philips Hue Play lights sync with your TV.
Things to note: *Must have Philips Hue Lights and the Bridge *Will not sync with built in streaming apps on a SmartTV, you would also need a fire stick, gaming console, or chrome cast (something that plugs into the hdmi) to play the apps to have it sync

You lose 4K 120hz option on consoles if you use this
So basically the order or ports is you plug your Shield/PS5/Xbox/etc into this and then the HDMI goes out of this into your TV. This only works with external devices of course though - you can't use the built-in OS on your tv to send signal to this.
Correct - this only supports EXTERNAL HDMI inputs. There aren't any TV's out there that I know of that have HDMI out abilities.

Amazing price. Bought one of these for $220+tax a few weeks ago; zero regrets, I love it. The whole room becomes part of your viewing experience. Still within the return window so I'm happy to snag this deal and save $65+.

You will want to make sure you use ports 2 or 4 for gaming consoles as they have more bandwidth. There is a whole Reddit post about it. Also it does not work with apps via your smart tv. For example, if you watch Netflix via your smart tv you will not get the benefits of the sync box, you will need to watch Netflix via a console or another device that is connected to the sync box.

Just it didn't like that I had devices that were "always on" like my apple tv and it wouldn't switch well automatically to my ps5. Also, sometimes it wouldn't display the lights correctly and it was bugging me.

Using it with your PS5? I take it you don't have a TV with HDMI 2.1? Or have I missed the news that the sync box was updated to passthrough 4k120?

I have a Sony AV receiver for sound and an Apple TV 4K for watching TV. I'm already in the Hue ecosystem and have 2 play bars and the hub. Would I have any issues using everything with this sync box?

If you're like me and want a viable solution to this without shelling out the two billz:

Get the free Hue Sync app on PC. It will translate everything on your PC screen to your lights in a defined "Entertainment Area" as well. Just use an old or current laptop to either stream your content or connect directly to your TV via HDMI and you will have roughly the same effect as this.

Cain you hook this up to your receiver for it to play apps that are built into the tv (ex. Netflix, Hulu)?

And does it still negatively affect the video quality?

I have a ton of hue stuff but questions on this
I have an LG c1, can I plug this in, an Apple TV, Xbox X and sonos arc (currently in the eArc hdmi slot)? Or would only the apple tv benefit. I don't want to lose the Xbox 120hz gaming

No, not with the internal apps. This sits between the video device and the display. But you shouldn't use built in TV apps anyway.

This is a great price. I love my sync box and lights. If you want to use it with your Xbox Series or PS5, just be aware you will lose HDMI 2.1 features like 120hz and VRR. No idea why they haven't upgraded this box yet to it. Other than that, it can handle whatever, including Dolby Vision.

I have:
Shield (2017) --> Yamaha Receiver --> Hue box --> LG Oled 65" (using 6 play bars)

works fine. I get 4K HDR content through perfectly. sometime theres signal throughput issues where tv cant find any signal when first turning on the system or if you leave the system idle for awhile. If you keep pressing buttons on the shield remote, eventually the shield is able to push a signal through again, usually takes 20-30 seconds.

Otherwise perfectly fine.

I assume this works ok with regular Hue light strip? I don't have the newer gradient strip yet and only the older strip behind my TV.

Have my entire man cave loaded with Hue lights. The sync box is a beast. Love it with the gradient light strip
