- I've done in-store trade-ins a few times at Best Buy. They only do a cursory look at the phone, to make sure it matches the color and condition. They don't care if it is carrier locked or is still being financed. -RonaldM

1. Go to the "Order Details" page for your order on bestbuy.com. This page likely says "Shipping Kit on its way" for the trade in status.
2. Open Developer Console in Chrome. Navigate to the "Networks" tab and reload the page.
3. Search for "trade" in the search box.
4. You should see 3 results - the third begins with "2002..." for me. Click on this one.
5. Click on "tradeInStatusInfo" -> "fulfillment" -> "tracking".
You will see the tracking number of the return shipping UPS label. You should also see a "isBoxShipped" field that likely reflects if your trade-in kit has shipped yet.

In this particular deal, the trade-in is superior because a) no contract is required and b) some of the trade-in values are well above market rate. But you could probably sell your iPhone 13 for $600-ish, depending on memory/condition, which is higher than any of these trade-in allowances. You'll still get the gift card.
(In my case, I could probably sell my iPhone 11 for $350, but they are offering $490 (plus the $200 gift card). To me that was worth overpaying for the Pixel 7.)
Because we haven't committed to a contract in order to get the deal, you can still look for a deal to switch carriers around Black Friday. Last year, Verizon had a bunch of $700 trade-in offers, but less publicized was the $500 rebate to bring your own device. You could get the Pixel 7, then maybe switch carriers for another $500. At that point you've made money on the upgrade. And when you take the BYOD offers, you are only obligated to stay with the carrier until you're done using up the rebate (to pay your phone bill).
