- NJ: When I did an in-store pickup of an online-order, tax was automatically calculated on (price - TIV_promo - TIV_normal). But when I did an in-store purchasing today, tax was calculated on (price - TIV_promo). According to the representative, this is because TIV_normal is processes as a GC and it has to be applied after the checkout, so the tax is charged on that part. Don't know if this is all true to CA or other states.

- I've done in-store trade-ins a few times at Best Buy. They only do a cursory look at the phone, to make sure it matches the color and condition. They don't care if it is carrier locked or is still being financed. -RonaldM

1. Go to the "Order Details" page for your order on bestbuy.com. This page likely says "Shipping Kit on its way" for the trade in status.
2. Open Developer Console in Chrome. Navigate to the "Networks" tab and reload the page.
3. Search for "trade" in the search box.
4. You should see 3 results - the third begins with "2002..." for me. Click on this one.
5. Click on "tradeInStatusInfo" -> "fulfillment" -> "tracking".
You will see the tracking number of the return shipping UPS label. You should also see a "isBoxShipped" field that likely reflects if your trade-in kit has shipped yet.

Phone to phone is probably always the ideal. Wasn't really an option for me in store.
Instead I did Cloud on an older Motorola (I think G6) so I would not be without a phone. It did download the vast majority of my apps and reinstall. Did what I needed for driving to Best Buy.
Then I took my cloud copy of my traded in Pixel 6 and it pushed to my Pixel 7. Everything downloaded where I left it - apps and folders. And given my already heavy reliance on cloud that picked back up, too. All my messages and calls pushed over, as well (took a bit of time but happened in a couple hours). Note - I have Google One, which I think lets it back up a bit more than usual. But this was a very acceptable backup and I'm back up and running.
Made sure to free up disk space by letting google photos delete uploaded photos, copied all the photos/videos/files that I had in my locked folder & non-sync'd folders to my laptop beforehand
Backed up text messages and call data. Made sure phone backup was done last night.
Factory reset my device outside the store & took out my sim card.
Walked in 6:30pm went to Mobile Phone desk. They told me to go to the Customer Service Pick-up Counter. There the lady gave me the new phone, checked in the trade-in, checked my ID and took my fingerprint. Signed the disclaimer and terms and I'm on my way home.
Took about 10 minutes.
2) Traded in my Pixel 6, they just gave it a glance over and entered the IMEI into the system
3) Extra promo value did not show up on paperwork but processes on the back end
4) Did get a refund on tax for the trade in amount so I paid tax only on the $120 ($600 P7 - $480 P6)
5) Was allowed to sit and transfer data from my old phone to my new phone. Took about 20 min using USB C
6) Don't be an idiot like me, it copies over your google authenticator but NOT the key. You need to do this manually.
