Trade-in value notes:
- In states CA (please add more), tax is charged on (price - TIV_promo).
- In states NJ, NY, tax is charged on (price - TIV_promo - TIV_normal).
- NJ: When I did an in-store pickup of an online-order, tax was automatically calculated on (price - TIV_promo - TIV_normal). But when I did an in-store purchasing today, tax was calculated on (price - TIV_promo). According to the representative, this is because TIV_normal is processes as a GC and it has to be applied after the checkout, so the tax is charged on that part. Don't know if this is all true to CA or other states.

- I've done in-store trade-ins a few times at Best Buy. They only do a cursory look at the phone, to make sure it matches the color and condition. They don't care if it is carrier locked or is still being financed. -RonaldM

1. Go to the "Order Details" page for your order on bestbuy.com. This page likely says "Shipping Kit on its way" for the trade in status.
2. Open Developer Console in Chrome. Navigate to the "Networks" tab and reload the page.
3. Search for "trade" in the search box.
4. You should see 3 results - the third begins with "2002..." for me. Click on this one.
5. Click on "tradeInStatusInfo" -> "fulfillment" -> "tracking".
You will see the tracking number of the return shipping UPS label. You should also see a "isBoxShipped" field that likely reflects if your trade-in kit has shipped yet.

Need inputs on the trade in refund though for my scenario. My refund will be about $456 but I paid $450 by credit card and remaining with GC using nwtian's method. Will entire $456 will be refunded to credit card which is more that what I paid from card? I am little worried now that they may first refund entire portion of amount as a GC that was paid by the GC.
Any thoughts on this by anyone is much appreciated.

Last year was my first time having a flagship phone, do these deals pop up every year like this?
If so, I'm doing this again next year.

Prior to the 6 (and maybe still happening), Google always has/had a penchant to shoot themselves in the feet with the Pixel line up...you either didnt get promotions (at all), or you literally never heard of the phone. It took a while Google to support all of the carriers, as well as promote the phone heavilly, both themselves and in large B&M stores. The phone was VZ-only at the beginning, and for a long time, wasnt sold at all at big-box stores. Unlocked phones didnt have carrier promos either.
Barely made a dent in the popular market until the 3a came out, which totally obliterated past model sales...It wasnt until the Pixel 4 series that TMO even cared to promote it. The SOC went back to mid range in the 5 series, so not really a "flagship" Google, in general, sucks at hardware...for now.
Pixel is 2% of the market; hopefully they can increase it with these promos; competition is a really good thing..otherwise you just got Apple and me-too Apple (Samsung).

Nothing like my Pixel 1-3 which were all great.
Kind of makes me not want to get another one. Can I expect the Pixel 7 to have much better performance or do they all just suck now?
