I got a refurbished iPhone Xr last spring from TF. It didn't unlock after 60 days, I was told that the device was initially activated before 11/23/2021. For devices activated prior to that date the minimum service requirement is 1 year. could not get Cr to budge. In June I traded it (still locked to TF) in for $700 off iPhone 13 Pro max on ATT at Costco without any issues.
Battery health was 100%
Some people mention a bad replacement screen on reconditioned TF iPhones - I didn't notice any issues with screen.
In August I got another reconditioned XR with $50 off promo (6000 TF rewards points) primarily as a backup for kids when they will eventually break their iPhones. The screen felt a little laggy on that one, not sure if this is due to replacement screen. Battery health still 100%

Ordered one as as well. Assuming/hoping these are similar to the ones from Total Wireless (probably the same since they all disappeared on that site) they are perfect for trade-in.

Can you believe it, I had ordered the Pixel 6 the other day from BB and the box arrived empty, so this will be the one to trade in instead.

I remember helping a friend do this (but not on iphone) a couple years back. Followed all the instructions that came with the phone. Didn't seem to work initially; so called CSR but it started working before the call ended. So give it some time if it doesn't seem to work right away.

I don't know what their return policy is - so you may want to check on that on the off chance it doesn't work.

For Apple devices activated with new TracFone service on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, the device will be automatically unlocked sixty (60) days after activation in the absence of an indication of fraud.

Any good trade-ins to play arbitrage with this? Back when XRs were first on sale from Total Wireless, you could buy the phone for $125 and trade it into Best Buy, Gamestop, or Apple for around $200.

If you can use PayPal. Helps gets your money back easier if needed. Tracfone is known to mess up orders and be slow to respond and confused when helping with order issues.

Yeah, there's a risk the reconditioned phone you receive was activated on tracfone before November 2021. If that's the case, then you're stuck with the 1 year waiting period for unlock instead of 60 days

You could try texting "unlock" to 611611 a few days or weeks after you activate the phone. It should give you the unlock date

The better deal is the iPhone 11 64GB for $149, I ended up buying two one for straight talk and one for Total wireless(just before they went TotalbyVerizon). The 11 though is hard to get as it goes in and out of stock pretty regularly.

Was scared for a second when I saw "Pending remote fulfillment" for 2 days which pretty much means they were running out of devices.
