Thanks and repped OP, love to see a deal on some ELAC speakers. I wish the pair of 4" ELAC bookshelves would go on deep discount again on Amazon.

Think they were about $68, which is criminal. Can't believe I missed out. I wouldn't hold my breath for that price, but for me if they go under $80-85 I'd probably bite.

Better have a stout amp if you want to listen to these at loud levels in a medium to large room.

done some research the 41s are the equivalent of the BS22 for when andrew jones moved to elac from pioneer. so that price is pretty in line with the prices for bs22.

If we look at the driver, the bs22 actually has a slightly more expensive woofer, textured surface.

but in the end, it's andrew jones, and it has the andrew jones signature sound. they're clearly made by the same oem, so no quality issues there. in interviews andrew jones says he always uses that oem because he knows them well for consistency/quality.

definitely waiting for them to come back on sale. I just don't see the point of debuts or uni-fi for small rooms at $250.

actually jim, most speakers, even if they're rated at 8ohm are actually 4ohm in large swaths of its freq response.

most amps are designed to handle them because it's so common. the ratings are seldom accurate, with "andrew jones" at the helm they're accurate.

Yes. I'm aware that most 8 ohm rated speakers dip lower at certain frequencies. They also often peak way, way higher than 8 ohms at certain frequencies. An impedance rating is typically "nominal". Most every review I've ever read on the uni-fi bookshelf speakers have always mentioned that a typical AV receiver can be stressed powering them at loud volumes in medium to large rooms because of the low sensitivity AND low impedance.
I don't know I'd say "most amps are designed to handle them". What are "most amps"? Amps can range from the tiny desktop D-class amps to huge class A monoblocks.
