I like Elac for music, but not a fan when we use them in a home theater. They are harder to drive and not as dynamic as KEFs or B&Ws. YMMV.
Zero dialogue options with my pair, and they are still great after several years. I keep them sufficiently powered, though I'm unsure how much difference that has made in regard to speech intelligibility.

A/B switching them with some Martin Logan Motion bookshelves shows a lot of the differences in tone and sensitivity, as the MLs are certainly louder and brighter at the same volume level.
That said, the ELACs are much more versatile, respond flatter, and are much less fatiguing. Being a full range bookshelf certainly helps with the mix of media I put them through. I have thousands of hours with mine and can't imagine replacing them. The resources were spent on the internals versus the aesthetics. A great value when I bought them, a fantastic value now.

Huh. Was the problem dialog and spoken voice intelligibility? I moved an older set of paradigm speakers and their voice intelligibility dropped when powered by a different integrated amp. Also used in a different room, too.

I have a 5.2 home theater made up of Elac debut 2.0 speakers and I wholeheartedly agree. They don't do dialog well at all.

Got the same speakers from the same seller when there was a similar deal a month ago. These are previous generation and low impedance so will need decent power to play at higher volumes.

I also have the Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 which seem be much easier to drive. I haven't tried swapping them in the same room but they seem to be a better deal especially when they're on sale for <$200.

Either one definitely benefits from having a sub though not as much in a smaller room if just listening to music.

Keep in mind these UniFi speakers are a different design than the Debuts. They use the same UniQ tech as lots of KEF speakers use as the main ELAC designer worked for KEF before moving to ELAC

The Debuts are warmer and better for music IMO, especially acoustic stuff. Excellent price: performance ratio. The UniFis should be a lot better for HT, though they're also harder to drive. Check the specs on your AVR/amp before going in.

These are also at a lot of Best Buy demo rooms, so you can probably give them a shot before buying if you're near one.

I am not who you asked, but I had the same exact issue. Great for music and really bad for HT use. Spoken dialog was not clear, no matter what I tweaked (and I tweaked, room corrected, dialog enhanced seemingly non stop) I was never happy with them in HT use. I did have the three way center and all, no joy. I used two higher end receivers no change, mainly a higher end Yamaha so no issue driving them.

After a year and a half I moved to Emotiva B1 speakers and C1 center and it was unbelievable how much better it was. Completely happy now, can't believe I wasted a year plus on the Elac. Same receivers too, no change other than speakers and worlds different results.

If needed for music use I'd say these speakers are a great deal, if HT I'd avoid.

+1 for Emotiva. Dialogue intelligibility is excellent. Buyers ignore such a good and affordable brand.

I use these with a decent class d amp plus a sub for my desktop speakers. I love them for music and gaming. I have 2.0s for my home theater and those are good as well.

How much better sounding are the 2.0's?
I know they are supposedly 6ohm so easier to drive. Anything else really?

N00b question here, but can I use these to upgrade the small side speakers on my existing surround system?

They are not very efficient speakers. I compared Fosi V3 with 48v power and Krell TAS(high current amp) v3 sounds ok but Krell made complete different speakers. I believe most amp will work fine but small class D amp user get something else. Such as Triangle ,JBL,Klipsch.

Yeah that's what I thought. I've got good power with an Emotiva preamp connected to an Emotiva A2 with 160 wpc. Just not sure how these would sound with this combo. For 5 years now I've compared every speaker to my JBL 530's and none were really better in my opinion. I've boxed up and returned some very well reviewed speakers

Wow, what are the pro's and con's of using these near field?
