Sound tech is very mature.
Do not get hooked into the idea that only new is better.
You can still go back and pick up amps from the 70's and 80's which will blow away a lot of what is made today.
Macintosh amps would be just one example.

Also, it is important to recognize the THX cert for what it is.
It involves no tech or hardware. It literally means that the setup was reviewed and deemed to be in the specs of what is required for the cert.

Now...is it an indication that the equipment is better sounding? Sure.
You are not likely going to get a THX cert from something that is junk and sounds it.

But if I were Klipsch...and I am trying to cut costs on an old standard for decades....while adding in something like Bluetooth, I might cut something like the THX cert. They do have to pay for every box sold with the THX cert on it if it is labeled as THX. Could they have also tried to cut other corners and these no longer sound as good? Maybe..but the cost of retooling, etc makes it just as possible that they just cut the cert to use that money towards something which is more of a sales feature for desktop speakers...like Bluetooth. And they left the rest the same because it is a design that requires no work or cost from them. Keep in mind, there are not likely a lot of people demanding their 2.1 computer speakers are THX and if they are, they know these have a history of that.

Lastly, while audiophiles can teach a lot, it is also VERY important not to get sucked down their rabbit holes.
You do not need to get very far into audio before even incremental better sound can cost thousands. And while this is not universal, oftentimes audiophiles become very snobbish about something even like these PC desktop speakers. And while I am sure that their PC speakers are fantastic, you will find that it is not priced comparative to something like this..and possibly only a marginal improvement.
Not that a PC should not sound good...but maybe you spend 20K for a listening room and just spend reasonable amounts on PC speakers.

On mine I can press the right knob (volume?) in and it disables Bluetooth. The blue LED turns white.

Was $50 last time, but at $59 still a good deal for a good pair of 2.1 speakers.

Annoying thing about these speakers is that they're always on though. There's no power switch on the control pod.

Sorry friend. You don't know what an earth loop is. By definition it requires multiple signal paths that do not exist when you line in is disconnected. AND radiated signals can not get in when the line in is shorted out while disconnected.

Think about it. How is there an earth loop when your only physical connections to the world are Line and Neutral???? Come on!

These DO have hum issues as I bought and tested one last year to confirm the behavior. I wrote an extensive review on the topic.
Well friend.....other than the fact that I solved my issue and you could not, I guess I really cannot prove something to somebody...who wrote an extensive review.

So I will just link to something more people will recognize as having some expertise...Wikipedia.

You will notice that they are not focused on that disconnected line-in you are touting.

You have a good one now...and if you want to argue about electronics, argue with them.

I can't change physics for you, as I described, ground loops don't apply. a ground loop problem can NOT exist when there isn't a ground loop. the fundamental method of identifying a ground loop problem is to first remove all ground loops and see if your issue still exists. as I need these speakers have 60hz hum as an internal issue unrelated to a ground loop BECAUSE THERE WAS NO GROUND LOOP IN THE TESTING LOL.

If you knew what a ground loop was you'd understand the the whole point of disconnecting the line in is to prove, by definition that the ground loop isn't the issue. There is no electrical (ground) loop when no input is connected.

your own link to Wikipedia describes it exactly as I stated.

Just take a minute to listen to what I am teaching you rather than trying to be right.

According to the Klipsch spec sheets the subwoofer for the THX certified model weighs 17 pounds. The Bluetooth model subwoofer weighs 11 pounds. Otherwise all the other specifications are identical, same dimensions, power and frequency response.

I have had various versions of these over the past 20 years. Amazing sound for the price.

I also experienced buzzing with Bluetooth on this version, so I just went with a hard-wired connection and am super happy with the sound. No buzzing via hard wire. Seems like some people have problems, others don't.

Past versions had problems with the volume control breaking over time, but this version seems sturdier in that department (so far).

Despite the apparently quality control issues, I strongly recommend these, even moreso at this price, especially if you don't bother with the Bluetooth (or, you can try the BT and return them if you have buzzing/interference).

I'm not sure why this speaker is getting so cheap. The first one I got in like 2005~2006 was $150 and my second set was $100. $59 is a great price for such nice speaker!!!

Bought these from this deal to replace a non-bluetooth pro media 2.1 set from 5 years ago. I don't know if these were defective or not but they are not even close to half the volume of the old Klipsch, and the tweeters or crossovers do not appear to be the same. Very dull sound. I tried it on Bluetooth and wired and yes I had input volume maxed out. There was no hum or static but you had to turn it to 100% volume to get it at least to speaking volume. My old set you couldn't turn it more than halfway up it would be extremely loud. The subwoofer weighs a bit less than the older model and even at max sub level, it hardly even moves any air. Returned them and will get the THX version and see if they are more
like the old ones.

These sounds pretty great although if you want a deep base, this thing comes in kind of weak.
