Not THX certified unlike the Costco set that goes on sale often for 70-80$

My friend bought these last month at $99 from Walmart. I couldn't believe how bad this non-THX version sounded. I have heard the THX version of this (non-Bluetooth) plenty of times and was always impressed for the money.
These were pretty trash, my friend gave his away within the month and bought Jamo bookshelves, sub and a little amp. More money, but SO much better sounding.
Last time this was posted I saw a review the Bluetooth was hard to secure and keep strangers off, but in that videos comments others said there is a way to turn off BT discovery. Either way I wouldn't recommend these.
No, we had to take the controller apart and pull the bluetooth module off the circuit board. Someone in our neighborhood had connected to it at one time and it kept reconnecting out of nowhere. The problem is twofold: 1) No password is required to connect, and 2) The wired connection does not override the BT connection like for all other devices in the world. Short of going around the neighborhood and asking every neighbor if one of their devices is connected, there is nothing you can do short of what we did. There is a tutorial on Youtube that shows how to do it. If you live away from other houses, for sure get it at this price. I have been watching the price on the non-BT for a long time and the lowest has been Coscto at $80. For four bucks more, this would be a deal if you don't have neighbors.
i dont think these are thx certified if that matters to you

Can these be turned off? I ask because I've been told the non-Bluetooth set cannot be turned off.
